കടുത്ത വയറുവേദനയും ഛര്‍ദ്ദിയും വന്നു ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ എത്തിയ സ്ത്രീയെ പരിശോധിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ 52കാരിയുടെ വയറ്റില്‍ 15 വര്‍ഷമായി ഗര്‍ഭസ്ഥ ശിശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം കണ്ടെത്തി. 15 വര്‍ഷം മുന്‍പ് ഗര്‍ഭഛിദ്രം നടത്തിയ സ്ത്രീ, ഇത്രകാലവും വയറ്റില്‍ ചുമന്നത് അന്ന് ഗര്‍ഭഛിദ്രം നടത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ എടുത്തുകളയാതിരുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം ആയിരുന്നുവത്രെ. വയറുവേദനയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം. മൂന്ന് വര്‍ഷമായി നിര്‍ത്താത്ത ഛര്‍ദ്ദി കൂടി ആയതോടെയാണ് വിദഗ്ധ പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് വിധേയയായത്.
ഏറെക്കുറെ വളര്‍ച്ചയെത്തിയ ശിശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹമാണ് ഇവരുടെ വയറ്റിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. രണ്ടുമണിക്കൂര്‍ നീണ്ട ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയിലൂടെ മൃതദേഹം ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ പുറത്തെടുത്തു.
സ്ത്രീയുടെ ദഹന വ്യവസ്ഥയെ തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് മൃതദേഹം വയറ്റിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. കല്ലുപോലൊരു വസ്തു വയറ്റിലുള്ളതായാണ് സിടി സ്‌കാനിങ്ങില്‍ കണ്ടതെന്ന് ഡോക്ടര്‍ നീലേഷ് ജുനാകര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. കുട്ടിയുടെ മൃതദേഹം ഉറച്ചു പോയിരുന്നു. ശസ്ത്രക്രിയക്കുശേഷമാണ് അത് സ്റ്റോണ്‍ ബേബി എന്ന അപൂര്‍വ പ്രതിഭാസമാണെന്ന് ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ക്ക് മനസ്സിലായത്. ഗര്‍ഭപാത്രത്തിന് പുറത്തുണ്ടാകുന്ന കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളാണ് ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ സ്റ്റോണ്‍ ബേബിയായി മാറുന്നത്.അബോര്‍ഷന് ശേഷം ഇത് പുറത്തു പോകാതെ ശരീരത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ത്തന്നെ ഉറച്ച് കിടക്കുകയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ രീതിയെന്നും ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. സ്റ്റോണ്‍ ബേബി കാലക്രമേണ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മാറും.
ഇതിന് ചുറ്റും അമ്മയുടെ ശരീരത്തില്‍നിന്നുള്ള ലവണാംശങ്ങള്‍ അടിഞ്ഞുകൂടി അണുബാധയ്ക്കെതിരെ കവചം തീര്‍ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
