He did break his leg after falling during a recent show in Sweden at the Ullevi Stadium.
But Friday's accident has now become a tragedy for European fans of the Foo Fighters.
Their remaining tour dates for the host of Summer music festivals across Europe have been cancelled; the first was Sunday's Pinkpop Festival held in the Netherlands.
Now under doctors orders, Grohl and the band have cancelled their Glastonbury and Wembley Stadium performances as well.
A statement on the band's website said: 'doctors have required the cancellation of the remainder of the band's dates in the UK and Europe.'

Dave Grohl is indeed demonstrated that a fighter. After falling and breaking his right leg during a performance of the band on June 12 at the Ullevi Stadium in Sweden. Surprisingly he returned an hour later with his leg in plaster and finished what was missing the show.
Despite suffering through the pain (and being sedated by painkillers) he continued to signin to tens of thousands of attendees.
According to the official website of Foo Fighters, their subsequent appearances were canceled. An X-ray shows the severity of the fracture.
