എ.ടി.സി. കെട്ടിടത്തിനു സമീപത്തായാണ് 25,000 പേർക്കിരിക്കാവുന്ന കൂറ്റൻ പന്തൽ ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്
കണ്ണൂർ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തിനുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങൾ വേഗത്തിലായി. വിമാനത്തിൽ നിന്ന് സാധനങ്ങൾ ഇറക്കുന്നതിനും കയറ്റുന്നതിനുമുള്ള ലോഡറുകൾ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെത്തിച്ചു. ഫ്രാൻസിൽനിന്ന്‌ കപ്പൽമാർഗം ചെന്നൈയിലെത്തിച്ച യന്ത്രങ്ങൾ റോഡുമാർഗമാണ് വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെത്തിച്ചത്. ആറു ട്രക്കുകളിലായാണ് ഇവയെത്തിച്ചത്. വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെ ഗ്രൗണ്ട് ഹാൻഡ്‌ലിങ്‌ കമ്പനികളിലൊന്നായ എയർ ഇന്ത്യ എ.ടി.എസ്.എല്ലിന്റെ ഉപകരണങ്ങളാണ് എത്തിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. അടുത്തദിവസം യന്ത്രങ്ങൾ വഹിച്ചുള്ള നാലു ട്രക്കുകൾ കൂടിയെത്തും.പാസഞ്ചർ ടെർമിനൽ കെട്ടിടത്തിലേക്കുള്ള 25,000 ഇരിപ്പിടങ്ങളും വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലായി ഇവ ഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തി പുരോഗമിക്കുകയാണ്. ഒരാഴ്ചകൊണ്ട് പ്രവൃത്തി പൂർത്തിയാകും. ഉദ്ഘാടനച്ചടങ്ങിനുള്ള പന്തലിന്റെ നിർമാണവും പൂർത്തിയായിവരുന്നുണ്ട്. എ.ടി.സി. കെട്ടിടത്തിനു സമീപത്തായാണ് 25,000 പേർക്കിരിക്കാവുന്ന കൂറ്റൻ പന്തൽ ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്. വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലേക്ക് നിയമിച്ച ശുചീകരണത്തൊഴിലാളികൾക്കുള്ള പരിശീലനവും ടെർമിനൽ കെട്ടിടത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളുടെ കാത്തിരിപ്പിന് അവസാനം. തറികളുടെ താളത്തിനും തിറകളുടെ മേളത്തിനുമൊപ്പം ഇനി വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ഇരമ്പവും കണ്ണൂരിന്റെ ഹൃദയതാളത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാകയാണ്. മട്ടന്നൂർ മൂർഖൻപറമ്പിലെ കണ്ണൂർ രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളത്തിൽനിന്ന് ആദ്യയാത്രാവിമാനം ഇന്നു പറന്നുയർന്നു. രാവിലെ 9.55ന് ആദ്യവിമാനത്തിന്റെ ഫ്ലാഗ് ഓഫ് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയനും കേന്ദ്ര വ്യോമയാനമന്ത്രി സുരേഷ് പ്രഭുവും ചേർന്നു നിർ‌വഹിച്ചു. ടെർമിനലിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനവും ഇരുവരും ചേർന്നു നിർവഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.
ഉദ്ഘാടന ചടങ്ങിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികളും ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
പൊതുജനങ്ങളെ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെത്തിക്കാൻ സൗജന്യ ബസ് സർവീസ് കിയാൽ (കണ്ണൂർ ഇന്റർനാഷനൽ എയർപോർട്ട് ലിമിറ്റഡ്) തയാറാക്കിയിരുന്നു. മുൻ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിമാരായ വി എസ് അച്യുതാനന്ദനേയും ഉമ്മൻചാണ്ടിയേും ചടങ്ങിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിക്കാത്തതിൽ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച് പ്രതിപക്ഷം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ബഹിഷ്കരിച്ചു. ബിജെപിയും ഉദ്ഘാടനച്ചടങ്ങ് ബഹിഷ്കരിച്ചു.
അബുദാബിയിലേക്കാണ് കണ്ണൂരില്‍ വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ആദ്യ സര്‍വീസ്.
രാവിലെ പത്തിന് പുറപ്പെടുന്ന എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യഎക്സ്പ്രസ് വിമാനം രാത്രി ഏഴിന് തിരിച്ചെത്തും. തുടര്‍ന്നുളള ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ ഈ വിമാനം രാവിലെ ഒമ്പതിന് പുറപ്പെട്ട് രാത്രി 8.20ന് തിരിച്ചെത്തും. ദോഹ, ഷാര്‍ജ, റിയാദ് എന്നിവടങ്ങളിലേക്കും എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ സര്‍വീസുണ്ടാകും. ഇതിന് പുറമേ മസ്ക്കറ്റിലേക്കുള്ള സര്‍വീസും ആരംഭിക്കും.
തുടക്കത്തില്‍ ആഴ്ച്ചയില്‍ നാല് ദിവസമുളള ഷാര്‍ജ സര്‍വീസ് പിന്നീട് ദിവസേനയാക്കാനും എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് പദ്ധതിയുണ്ട്. അബുദാബി, ദമാം, മസ്ക്കറ്റ്, ദോഹ, കുവൈറ്റ് എന്നിവടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് സര്‍വീസ് നടത്താന്‍ ഗോ എയറും താത്പര്യം അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്
വിമാനത്താവളം ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് മട്ടന്നൂരും പരിസരവും ആഘോഷ ലഹരിയിൽ.

തിരുവനന്തപുരം, കോഴിക്കോട് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളുടെ നടത്തിപ്പ് ഏറ്റെടുക്കാൻ തയ്യാറാണെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉദ്ഘാടന ചടങ്ങിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.
തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിമാനത്താവളം സ്വകാര്യവത്കരിക്കരുത്. കേന്ദ്രം കൈയൊഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ഏറ്റെടുത്ത് നടത്താൻ സംസ്ഥാനസർക്കാർ തയ്യാറാണ്. ശ്രീ ചിത്തിരതിരുനാൾ മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്ത് തുടങ്ങിയതാണ് വിമാനത്താവളം. ആ നിലയ്ക്ക് സ്ഥലം സംസ്ഥാനസർക്കാരിന്റേതാണ്. വിമാനത്താവളനടത്തിപ്പിൽ കേരളത്തിന് മതിയായ പരിചയവുമുണ്ട്. അതിനാൽ സ്വകാര്യവത്കരണതീരുമാനം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് കേരളത്തിന് കൈമാറണമെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു.
കേരളം പ്രത്യേക കമ്പനി രൂപവത്കരിച്ച് നടത്തിപ്പുചുമതല നിർവഹിക്കും -മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. കേന്ദ്രസർക്കാരിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലുള്ള കോഴിക്കോട് വിമാനത്താവളം സ്വകാര്യവത്കരിക്കാനുള്ള ഉദ്ദേശ്യമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഒഴിവാക്കണം. അതും വേണ്ടിവന്
