The terror of cow vigilantism that has spread across the country in the past few years, has now reached Delhi. Late on Saturday night, vigilantes attacked three cattle traders in Kalkaji in South East Delhi. The most shocking aspect of the case is that the police filed a case against the three injured cattle traders but it didn't make any progress in nabbing the people involved in the attack even 24 hours after the crime.
Mohammad Zahid Qureshi, an eyewitness, recalls the attack made by Gau Rakshaks in Kalkaji.
The case has been filed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on a complaint filed by an NGO People For Animals (PFA) that is associated with Union minister Maneka Gandhi. The name of PFA volunteers has also come up in connection with the attack, a charge the organisation has denied.
