સુરતમાં અસામાજિક તત્વોને પોલીસનો ડર રહ્યો ન હોય તેવું લાગી રહ્યું છે. કારણકે સુરતમાં હવે મારામારી, લૂંટ, ચોરી, ચેન સ્નેચિંગ જેવી ઘટનાઓ સતત વધારો થઈ રહ્યો છે. સુરતમાં અસામાજિક તત્વો દ્વારા કરવામાં આવતી દાદાગીરીના CCTV ફૂટેજ પણ સામે આવે છે. છતાં સુરત પોલીસ આવા આરોપીઓ સામે કડક વલણ કેમ અપનાવતી નથી. અસામાજિક તત્વોના આતંકનો વધુ એક વીડિયો સામે આવ્યો છે. આ વીડિયો છે વરાછા વિસ્તારના ભરત નગરનો કે જ્યાં કેટલાક અસામાજિક તત્વો ધારદાર હથિયાર લઈને આવે છે અને દુકાનદારો સાથે દાદાગીરી કરે છે.

વરાછા વિસ્તારમાં ફરી એકવાર તલવારો સાથે કેટલાક અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોએ આતંક મચાવ્યો હતો. વરાછા પોલીસ સ્ટેશનના હદ વિસ્તારમાં અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો બેફામ બની રહ્યા છે. વરાછા પોલીસનો ડર હવે અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોને રહ્યો ન હોય તેવું લાગી રહ્યું છે. મારૂતિ ચોક પાસે આવેલી શાકભાજી માર્કેટમાં 3 ઈસમો હાથમાં તલવાર લઈને દાદાગીરી કરતા હતા. આ ઈસમોએ કબાટ અને બેકરીની દુકાનમાં ઘૂસીને દુકાન માલિકોને તલવાર બતાવીને ડરાવી દુકાનમાં તોડફોડ કરી હતી.
શાકભાજી માર્કેટમા ચાની કેબિન બંધ કરાવવાનો પ્રયત્ન આ ગુંડાઓએ કર્યો હતો, પરંતુ ચાની કેબિનના માલિકે કેબિન બંધ ન કરતા તલવાર જેવા હથિયાર સાથે કેબિનના માલિક પર હુમલો કર્યો અને 18000ની લૂંટ કરી એક રસની લારીવાળાને ચપ્પુ મારી ભાગી ગયા હતા.
આ અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના આતંકના કારણે મારૂતી ચોક શાકભાજી માર્કેટમાં ભયનો માહોલ ફેલાયો હતો. ભયના કારણે દુકાનદારો દુકાન બંધ કરી ચાલ્યા ગયા હતા. આ ઘટના પરથી વરાછા પોલીસની કામગીરી પર સીધા પ્રશ્નો ઉભા થાય છે. શાકભાજી માર્કેટ જેવી ગીચ જગ્યા પર પોલીસનું પેટ્રોલિંગ ન હોવાના કારણે આ અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો બેફામ બને છે.

સુરત હવે ધીમે ધીમે ક્રાઇમ સિટીમાં પરિવર્તિત થતું હોય તેવું લાગી રહ્યું છે. કારણકે સુરતમાં દિન પ્રતિદિન અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોનો આતંક વધી રહ્યો છે. ચોરી, લૂંટ, મારામારી, હત્યા, છેડતી જેવી ઘટનાઓમાં સતત વધારો થઈ રહ્યો છે. જો કે હવે અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના ત્રાસના કારણે નવરાત્રી દરમિયાન સોસાયટીમાં ગરબે રમવું પણ મુશ્કેલ બની ગયું છે. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના આતંકની ઘટના સુરતના પૂણા વિસ્તારમાં પ્રકાશમાં આવી છે. ખુલ્લી તલવાર અને હાથમાં લાકડાના ફટકા લઈને કેટલાક અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો સોસાયટીમાં ઘૂસ્યા હતા અને સોસાયટીમાં ધમાલ મચાવી હતી. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોએ સોસાયટીના રહીશો સાથે ગુંડાગીરી કરીને સોસાયટીમાં ચાલી રહેલા રાસ-ગરબા બંધ કરાવ્યા હતા. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના આતંકની આ સમગ્ર ઘટના સોસાયટીના ગેટ પર લાગેલા CCTV કેમરામાં કેદ થઈ ગઈ હતી.
ઘટનાને પગલે સ્થાનિક લોકો મોડી રાત્રે પૂણા પોલીસ સ્ટેશન પહોંચ્યા હતા અને અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો વિરુદ્ધ ફરિયાદ દાખલ કરાવી હતી. સ્થાનિકોની ફરિયાદ અને સોસાયટીમાં લાગેલા CCTV કેમેરાના ફૂટેજ મેળવીને પૂણા પોલીસે ગુંડાગીરી કરનારા અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોને પકડવા માટેની કાર્યવાહી હાથ ધરી છે.
