સુરત હવે ધીમે ધીમે ક્રાઇમ સિટીમાં પરિવર્તિત થતું હોય તેવું લાગી રહ્યું છે. કારણકે સુરતમાં દિન પ્રતિદિન અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોનો આતંક વધી રહ્યો છે. ચોરી, લૂંટ, મારામારી, હત્યા, છેડતી જેવી ઘટનાઓમાં સતત વધારો થઈ રહ્યો છે. જો કે હવે અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના ત્રાસના કારણે નવરાત્રી દરમિયાન સોસાયટીમાં ગરબે રમવું પણ મુશ્કેલ બની ગયું છે. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના આતંકની ઘટના સુરતના પૂણા વિસ્તારમાં પ્રકાશમાં આવી છે. ખુલ્લી તલવાર અને હાથમાં લાકડાના ફટકા લઈને કેટલાક અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો સોસાયટીમાં ઘૂસ્યા હતા અને સોસાયટીમાં ધમાલ મચાવી હતી. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોએ સોસાયટીના રહીશો સાથે ગુંડાગીરી કરીને સોસાયટીમાં ચાલી રહેલા રાસ-ગરબા બંધ કરાવ્યા હતા. અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોના આતંકની આ સમગ્ર ઘટના સોસાયટીના ગેટ પર લાગેલા CCTV કેમરામાં કેદ થઈ ગઈ હતી.
ઘટનાને પગલે સ્થાનિક લોકો મોડી રાત્રે પૂણા પોલીસ સ્ટેશન પહોંચ્યા હતા અને અસામાજિક તત્ત્વો વિરુદ્ધ ફરિયાદ દાખલ કરાવી હતી. સ્થાનિકોની ફરિયાદ અને સોસાયટીમાં લાગેલા CCTV કેમેરાના ફૂટેજ મેળવીને પૂણા પોલીસે ગુંડાગીરી કરનારા અસામાજિક તત્ત્વોને પકડવા માટેની કાર્યવાહી હાથ ધરી છે..
