An inquest into the death of Peaches Geldof has revealed that there were 'recent traces' of heroin in her body, when it was found at her home in Kent. Police confirmed that the drug was 'likely' to have contributed to the 25-year-old mother's death. This comes after an inquest was opened and adjourned today. Peaches' body was found by her husband Tom Cohen on April 7 at the family's home. Police said they found no drug paraphernalia near her body when it was discovered, leading to speculation it could have been removed. The whereabouts of items used when smoking or injecting heroin is likely to be a focus of the on-going investigation. Just hours before she died, Peaches posted a picture on Twitter of her as a child with her mother. The results come as a tragic parallel to the death of Paula Yates, who died of a Heroin overdose in 2000, when Peaches was just ten. Peaches had previously spoken of never getting over her mother's death. A full inquest into the death of the model, TV presenter and journalist has now been adjourned until July 23rd. Heroin is likely to have contributed to the death of writer, model and TV presenter Peaches Geldof, an inquest has heard.
The 25-year-old was found slumped across a bed in a spare bedroom by her husband Tom Cohen on Monday, April 7.
The musician had arrived at their home in Wrotham, Kent, with his mother, and thought Peaches was asleep.
He found their 11-month-old son Phaedra, who Peaches had been looking after, and called to his mother to ring emergency services.
The inquest in Gravesend, Kent, also heard Peaches' father Sir Bob Geldof formally identified her body.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said a post-mortem examination was inconclusive, prompting further tests.
But he told the 10-minute hearing: 'Forensic samples have been examined and results concluded there was recent use of heroin and that the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death.'
He said Mr Cohen, 23, went with his two sons to spend the weekend at his parents' house in south-east London.
'This is a normal occurrence which enables Peaches and Thomas to complete work in their respective careers,' he said.
Peaches spent Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning on her own at home.

Mourners gathered in a church in Davington, in Kent, on Monday, for the funeral of journalist and television presenter Peaches Geldof.
Her father, Sir Bob Geldof, will give a eulogy at the service, which is being held at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church, the same church where the funeral of her mother, Paula Yates, was held.
Models such as Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, DJ Nick Grimshaw and musician Jools Holland were among those attending the ceremony.
Geldof's body was found at the home she shared with her husband and their two young sons, Astala, 23 months, and 11-month-old Phaedra, last week.
The cause of death is currently unknown but it is being treated as a 'non-suspicious, unexplained sudden death'.

Heroin use played a role in the death of Peaches Geldof, the daughter of Live Aid founder Bob Geldof, an inquest in Britain has heard.
The 25-year-old model and journalist, who had two young children, was found dead at her home on April 7.
Her mother, TV presenter Paula Yates, died of a heroin overdose in 2000.
''Recent use of heroin and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death,'' police detective Paul Fotheringham told the opening of the inquest in Gravesend, southern England.
Peaches, who wrote for British magazines and newspapers and presented celebrity-driven television shows, had been looking after her 11-month-old son Phaedra at her home in Wrotham, Kent.
Her husband Thomas Cohen, 23, a musician, had spent the previous nights apart from his wife and was looking after their eldest son, 23-month-old Astala.
He raised the alarm when he could not contact her by phone.
Fotheringham explained:
''On Thursday April 3, 2014, Thomas Cohen went... to stay for the weekend at his parents' house in south-east London.
'This is a normal occurrence which enables Peaches and Thomas to complete work in their respective careers.
'It is believed that Peaches spent Saturday afternoon, into the evening, and Sunday morning at her home address alone.'

At 7:45am on Sunday, Peaches had a phone conversation with a friend and was the last known contact before her death.
Police found no evidence of drug use in their home.
On Saturday, she remained at home and was in contact with friends.
A toxicology test confirmed use of heroin - was 'likely' to have contributed to her death.
Her family were not present at the inquest.
Last night, the Geldof family would not comment on the reports.
'I cannot confirm anything as an inquest is taking place. The family have no statement,' a spokesperson for the Geldofs said.
