ഔമുവാമുവ എന്ന വാല്‍നക്ഷത്രം അന്യഗ്രഹങ്ങളില്‍ എവിടെയോ നിന്നെത്തിയ ഒരു കൃത്രിമ ബഹിരാകാശ പേടകമായിരിക്കാം എന്ന ഗവേഷകരുടെ നിരീക്ഷണം മുമ്പ് വാര്‍ത്തകളില്‍ ഇടം പിടിച്ചതാണ്. ഔമുവാമുവ അകന്നുപോയതോടെ അന്യഗ്രഹ ജീവികളെ തേടി നടക്കുന്ന ശാസ്ത്രലോകത്തിന് അതിനുള്ള ഒരു അവസരമാണ് നഷ്ടമായതെന്ന് ഗവേഷകര്‍ പറയുന്നു.
സൗരയൂഥത്തിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോവുന്നതായി കണ്ടെത്തിയ ആദ്യ ബഹിരാകാശ വസ്തുവാണ് 1/2017 U1.
'സന്ദേശവാഹകന്‍' എന്ന് അര്‍ത്ഥം വരുന്ന 'ഔമുവാമുവ' എന്ന വിളിപ്പോരാണ് ഈ വസ്തുവിന് നല്‍കിയത്.
ബഹിരാകാശത്തിന്റെ ആഴങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അകന്നുപോവുന്ന ഈ വസ്തുവിന്റെ വിചിത്രമായ സവിശേഷതകള്‍ ഗവേഷകരെ അക്ഷരാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ അമ്പരപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
ഔമുവാമുവയുടെ സഞ്ചാര പാതയാണ് ഗവേഷകരില്‍ ആദ്യം സംശയം ജനപ്പിച്ചത്. സിഗരറ്റിന്റെ ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള ഔമുവാമുവയുടെ വേഗം അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി കൂടിയതും ദിശ പെട്ടെന്നു മാറിയതും ഗവേഷകര്‍ സംശയത്തോടെയാണ് കാണുന്നത്.
സൗര വികിരണം ഇതിന്റെ ചലനത്തിന് സഹായിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് ഗവേഷകര്‍ നിരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
ഔമുവാമുവയുടെ വേഗം പെട്ടെന്നു കൂടിയത് ഒരുപക്ഷേ, സൗര വികിരണം അതിനെ തള്ളിയതുകൊണ്ടായിരിക്കാം. സൗരയൂഥത്തിനു പുറത്തുനിന്ന് ഇവിടേക്കെത്തിയ ആദ്യ പേടകമായിരിക്കാമിത്.
ഔമുവാമുവ 1837 ല്‍ സൗരയൂഥത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവാമെന്നാണ് കരുതുന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍ 2017 ല്‍ വലിയ അളവില്‍ സൗരോര്‍ജം പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയതോടെയാണ് ഇത് ഗവേഷകരുടെ ശ്രദ്ധയില്‍ പെടുന്നത്.
ഇത് അന്യഗ്രഹ ജീവികളുടെ സഞ്ചാരമായിരിക്കാം എന്ന് ചില ഗവേഷകര്‍ പറയുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നും അകന്ന് പോയിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ ഇനി അത് കണ്ടെത്താനാവില്ലെന്ന് നാസ പറയുന്നു.
