The company sources termed the cuts as part of an aggressive measure to reduce excess burn and the need to prioritise profitability over growth. The entire tech sector has been hit by the global economic slowdown. Even giants like Apple, Microsoft and Snap are feeling the squeeze and have cut back on hiring plans.
The Indian IT sector, which has a large part of its earnings from outside India, is also feeling the heat but has not entered the meltdown stage yet. The start-ups, however, are shedding jobs. Experts are of the opinion that employees are turning to different platforms to look for new and better opportunities and even upskill themselves for better prospects. The past year was filled with several changes to the conventional workplace, and hybrid work emerged as the new norm. As per a survey, 74% of Indian employers agree that hybrid working is the future and is here to stay for the long run.
We can only expect this trend to continue to evolve as remote, freelance, and contract employees become even more prevalent, and employees seek more work-life balance. The workplace has been evolving drastically, and technology has continued to be at the centre of everything. Hybrid work, however, comes with a few challenges.
Going forward, video collaboration will become the norm of communication. The rise in the adoption of AI is with a focus on the end-user experience. However, if companies can ensure equity in a hybrid work setup, create employee-friendly policies, and focus on embracing collaboration technology deep into an organisation's DNA, hybrid working can not only survive as the future of work but thrive.

Digital economy is triggered by the continued pandemic bringing an unprecedented opportunity for the technology companies and it brings the confluence of people, process and technology to reconstruct existing business models. Covid has proven instrumental in boosting the growth of the tech industry. Companies operating in the most demanding sectors like online education, payments, OTT, and tech-enabled staffing service are among the tech honourees on the business journal's fast 50 start-up lists. With the tech sector gaining traction, most tech companies are anticipated to increase headcount in 2021.
Covid has undoubtedly magnified the demand for technology. Simultaneously, this increased demand of technology has given rise to a greater demand for tech-skilled resources. An average Indian is now presented with a multitude of opportunities to pursue a lucrative tech career. With India right in the midst of experiencing a deadly second wave of coronavirus, it has become clear that remote work is here to stay and we should evaluate this time to evolve our hybrid workplaces to build capabilities for businesses to thrive. The hybrid workplace essentially gives employees and businesses the choice to explore further flexibility encouraging them to work wherever they feel most comfortable or productive. It has led to recreating the way we work and rethinking how work gets done, and where it gets done. According to a recent survey conducted by Citrix Systems, 52% employees prefer hybrid models for work post-pandemic.

A report from #Linkedin on State of Sales APAC 2022 says that the rising #remotework culture has accelerated the proliferation of sales technology. The pandemic disrupted the sales process permanently and positively, with 81% of buyers in India agreeing that working remotely is making buying easier.
There is a continued rise of sales technology and data-driven selling. In today’s predominantly digital era, 4 in 5 (81%) buyers in India feel that remote work has made buying easier today. Sellers too have felt this pull, with every 1 in 5 (22%) clocking deals worth $500,000 or above without ever meeting the buyer in-person.
With the number of sales professionals without any remote work experience dropping to one-fourth during the pandemic, it is evident that remote working is here to stay. Top performers are thriving due to their intelligent use of technology and data-driven selling.
The survey indicates younger sales professionals are placing a higher emphasis on soft skills, so they can develop closer relationships with their buyers or clients and close better deals. The survey also reveals that the ability to build trust is the most important factor for closing deals among younger (under 35 years) sales professionals (21%), as compared to older (over 35 years) professionals who prioritise metrics like ROI (16%) and price (17%).
Companies are increasing their appetite for data-based insights to better gauge buyer intent and drive greater sales. This is especially true amidst the ongoing Great Reshuffle when buyers and sellers are constantly considering shifting roles. In fact, more than 8 in 10 (84%) sales professionals in India have lost at least one deal to an important decision maker changing roles in the past year alone.
Therefore, access to the right intel has become mission-critical for sales functions across the board. The report further reveals that top performers are also more likely to leverage these insight

The new world of work
A study by Citrix Systems shows hybrid work is here to stay and in this new world of work, delivering a unified, secure, and simplified work experience will be key to success. Many companies viewed remote work as a short-term solution to the pandemic, they now recognize it must be part of their permanent workforce and cost management strategies. When asked how they would prefer to work post-pandemic 52% of respondents said they want a hybrid model where they can choose to work remotely or from the office each day; 16% indicated they have no interest in returning to the office and would prefer a permanently remote role; 45% noted that if they were to change jobs, they would only accept a role which offered flexible and remote work options; and nearly 75% said they would likely consider relocating to a different city if they could perform their role to the same level without commuting to a place of work.
With a lack of boundaries between their work and personal lives and no commute to manage, two-thirds of employees polled say they are working the same or more hours. And while they remain productive, many are struggling to do so. The study found that 41% of employees cited distractions in their home environment, 28% say they lack appropriate technologies and applications to get work done and 36% feel isolated and out of touch with colleagues. As many companies have learned through the pandemic, digital workspaces are an efficient and effective way to do this, as they: (i) Unify work – whether at home, on plane or in an office, employees have consistent and reliable access to all the resources they need to be productive across any work channel, device or location; (ii) Secure work – contextual access and app security, ensure applications and information remain secure – no matter where work happens and (iii) Simplify work – Intelligence capabilities like machine learning, virtual assistan

Adopting standard toolchain is the smart strategy
Multi-cloud has all but become the new normal and the Multi-cloud strategy can help organisations build competitive differentiation and prevent expensive vendor lock-in. While designing multi-cloud strategy, some of the key areas that are focused on were related to integration, visibility, security, resilience and the right set of tools. At the same time, a random mix of cloud services, without an integrated approach or a holistic strategy, will not help. “Multi-cloud should be a deliberate and cohesive strategy. It’s similar to the practice of choosing many different software providers on-premises to avoid lock-in and then assembling best-of-breed solutions in one’s own data center, but via a cloud-model that delivers increased agility and superior cloud economics. The Challenges Surrounding Today’s Modern Infrastructure, industry experts discuss a unique hybrid cloud solution that is focused on delivering increased power and control to organizations looking for a better way to manage their workloads and applications.
Certain industry experts suggest that, hybrid and multi-cloud architectures helps in power real-time interoperability between all of the systems, applications, and datastores that run across any number of on-premises and cloud environments so you can innovate faster, increase revenue, reduce risk and maximize the value of cloud. Cloud computing continues to grab all the headlines, but on-premises IT infrastructure remains vitally important and will continue to be well into the future. Even as they move workload to the cloud, most organizations plan to increase investments in their on-premises computing infrastructure. Indeed, incorporating existing infrastructure into a hybrid strategy can reduce overall IT costs because it minimizes the need for specialized skills and improves productivity. As per IBM, most executives are looking to improve speed and agility as
