കാനഡയിലെ സെന്റര്‍ ഫോര്‍ അഡിക്ഷന്‍ ആന്‍ഡ് മന്റെല്‍ ഹെല്‍ത്ത് നടത്തിയ പഠനത്തിലാണ് ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യക്തമായത്. അമിതമായി മദ്യം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നവരെയും ചില മാനസികപ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചവരെയും ആണ് പഠനവിധേയമാക്കിയത്. 2008 മുതല്‍ 2013 വരെയുള്ള കാലയളവില്‍ ഫ്രാന്‍സിലെ വിവിധ ആശുപത്രികളില്‍ നിന്ന് പ്രവേശിക്കപ്പെട്ട 3 കോടി ആളുകളിലായിരുന്നു പഠനം. 10 ലക്ഷത്തില്‍പരം ആളുകള്‍ മറവിരോഗത്തിന്റെ പിടിയിലാണെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തി.ലാന്‍സെറ്റ് പബ്ലിക് ഹെല്‍ത്ത് ജേണലില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് പ്രകാരം ഇവരില്‍ നേരത്തെ (65 വയസ്സിന്റെ മുമ്പ്) മറവി രോഗം വന്നവരില്‍ 57 ശതമാനം ആളുകള്‍ക്കും അമിത മദ്യപാനം മൂലമാണ് രോഗം പിടിപെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളത്.ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടനയുടെ കണക്കുകള്‍ പ്രകാരം ദിനേന പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ 60 ഗ്രാമില്‍ കൂടുതലും സ്ത്രീകള്‍ 40 ഗ്രാമില്‍ കൂടുതലും മദ്യം കഴിക്കുന്നത് അമിത മദ്യപാനമായി കണക്കാക്കാം. അമിത മദ്യപാനം ഒരാളുടെ ശരാശരി ആയുര്‍ദൈര്‍ഘ്യത്തില്‍നിന്നു 20 വര്‍ഷം കുറക്കുന്നുവെന്നാണ് കണ്ടെത്തല്‍.

സൂക്ഷിക്കുക 45 വയസു കഴിഞ്ഞ സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും പുരുഷന്മാർക്കും ഈ അസുഖം പിടിപെടാം.പാർക്കിസൺസ്, ഡിമൻഷ്യ,സ്ട്രോക്ക് എന്നിവ വരുന്നതായാണ് പഠനം. ഈ മൂന്ന് അസുഖങ്ങളും വൃദ്ധജനങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ മരണനിരക്ക് വർദ്ധിക്കാനിടയാക്കുന്നതായി പഠനത്തിൽ പറയുന്നു.പൊതുവേ ഹൃദയാഘാതത്തിനും അർബുദത്തിനുമാണ് ആളുകൾ ചികിത്സകളും പഠനങ്ങളും നടത്തുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ ഇതിനിടയിൽ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടാതെ പോകുന്ന ചിലരോഗങ്ങൾ വളർന്നു വരുന്നതായി നെതർലാന്റ് ഇറാസ്മസ് മെഡിക്കൽ സെന്ററിലെ ന്യൂറോളജി ആന്റ് എപ്പിഡമോളജി അസോസിയേറ്റ് പ്രൊഫസറും ഗവേഷകനുമായ കമ്രന് ഇക്രം പറയുന്നു.26 വർഷത്തിനിടയിൽ 12,102 ആളുകളിൽ നടത്തിയ പഠനത്തിലാണ് ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരു കണ്ടെത്തൽ.
1990 ൽ തുടങ്ങിയ പഠനം 2016 ലാണ് അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചത്. പഠനത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത 1,489 ആളുകൾക്ക് ഡിമൻഷ്യ ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. 1,285 പേർക്ക് സ്ട്രോക്കും 268 പേർക്ക് പാർക്കിസൺസ് കണ്ടെത്തി. 438 പേർക്ക് ഒന്നിലധികം രോഗങ്ങൾ ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. രോഗം ബാധിച്ചവരിൽ 48.2 ശതമാനം പേർ സ്ത്രീകളും, 36.2 ശതമാനം പേർ പുരുഷന്മാരും ആയിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് ഡിമൻഷ്യ സ്ട്രോക്കും വരാനുള്ള സാധ്യത വളരെ കൂടുതാലാണെന്നു പഠനം കണ്ടെത്തി.
