സെക്കൻഡിനുള്ളിൽ കൃത്യമായ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്ക് ബോംബാക്രമണം നടത്താൻ സഹായിക്കുന്ന സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യയാണ് ലേസര്‍ ഡെസിഗ്നേറ്റര്‍ പോഡ് (Laser Designator Pods (LDPs).
ഇതാകട്ടെ നിര്‍മിക്കാന്‍ വളരെ ചെലവേറിയതുമാണ്. അമേരിക്കന്‍ കമ്പനി ലോക്ഹീഡ് മാര്‍ട്ടിന്‍ (Lockheed Martin) ചെലവു കുറച്ച് ഒരു ഫൈബര്‍ ലേസര്‍ സിസ്റ്റം നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന തിരക്കിലാണിപ്പോള്‍. ഇതിന്റെ ഡെമോ 2021ല്‍ നടത്താനാകുമെന്നാണ് കമ്പനി കരുതുന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍, ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞര്‍ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നത്, തങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിര്‍മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ലേസര്‍ ഡെസിഗ്നേറ്റര്‍ പോഡുകൾ‌ക്കു ചെലവു വളരെക്കുറവാണെന്നാണ്. ശത്രുക്കളുടെ ഏതു നീക്കത്തെയും നിമിഷ നേരത്തിനുള്ളിൽ നേരിടാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ളതാണ് ലേസർ ആയുധങ്ങൾ.ഏതു രാജ്യവും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന അത്യാധുനികമായ ലേസർ ആയുധ സംവിധാനം നിർമിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞുവെന്നാണ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഡിഫന്‍സ് റിസര്‍ച് ആന്‍ഡ് ഡവലപ്‌മെന്റ് ഓര്‍ഗനൈസേഷന്‍ (ഡിആര്‍ഡിഒ) അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നത്.
ലേസര്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ശത്രുരാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ആയുധശേഖരത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ളതാണ് ഈ സംവിധാനം.
ഇവ ഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഫൈറ്റര്‍ ജെറ്റ് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഏതു കാലാവസ്ഥയിലും പകലെന്നോ രാത്രിയെന്നോ ഭേദമില്ലാതെ കൃത്യമായ ആക്രമണങ്ങൾക്കു കഴിയുമെന്നാണ് വിദഗ്ധർ പറയുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യ നിര്‍മിച്ച തേജസ് (Tejas) യുദ്ധവിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ആക്രമണ ശേഷി ഇതോടെ പതിന്മടങ്ങു വർധിക്കുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ. വിമാനത്തില്‍ പിടിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന ഈ ഇന്‍ഫ്രാറെഡ് ടാര്‍ഗറ്റിങ് ആന്‍ഡ് നാവിഗേഷന്‍ പോഡുകൾ ഒരേസമയം ലേസര്‍ സെന്‍സറും ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ കൃത്യമായി ഉന്നംവയ്ക്കാനാവുന്ന ആയുധവുമാണ്. പറക്കലിനിടയില്‍ത്തന്നെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ ശേഖരിക്കുകയും ലക്ഷ്യം നിറവേറ്റുകയും ചെയ്യും. കരയിലെ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ കണ്ടെത്തി അവിടേക്ക് കൃത്യതയോടെ ലേസർ നിയന്ത്രിത ബോംബിടാൻ ഇവ ഉപയോഗിക്കാമെന്നാണ്ടെക് വിദഗ്ധർ പറയുന്നത്.
ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ ഈ സംവിധാനം വികസിപ്പിച്ച ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞർ പി. സുരേഷ് കുമാറും പ്രസാദും (N.N.S.S.R.K. Prasad), കെ. സന്തില്‍ കുമാറും ഇതിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനശേഷി വിലയിരുത്തി. ലേസർ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വര്‍ഷിക്കുന്ന ബോംബുകള്‍ക്ക് ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഏകദേശം 2.3 മീറ്ററിന്റെ കൃത്യതക്കുറവു മാത്രമെ അവര്‍ കണ്ടെത്തിയുള്ളു.

പാലത്തില്‍ (Bogibeel bridge) ഫൈറ്റര്‍ ജെറ്റ് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ലാന്‍ഡ് ചെയ്യാനും ഏറ്റവുമധികം ഭാരമുള്ള ടാങ്കുകള്‍ക്കു കടന്നുപോകാനും സാധിക്കും. പ്രധാന മന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി തുറന്നു കൊടുത്ത ഈ ലോകാദ്ഭുത പാലത്തിന് ചിലവായത് 5600 കോടി രൂപയാണ്. ചൈനയുമായുള്ള പ്രതിരോധ ബന്ധം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുക, വടക്കു കിഴക്കന്‍ മേഖലയില്‍ ഗതാഗതം എളുപ്പമാക്കുക എന്നീ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഈ പാലം നിര്‍മിച്ചതിനു പിന്നിലുണ്ട്. പാലത്തിലൂടെയുള്ള ഗതാഗതം തുറന്നു കിട്ടുന്നതോടെ, അസമിലെ ഡിബ്രുഗറില്‍ നിന്ന് അരുണാചല്‍ പ്രദേശിലെ ഇറ്റാനഗറിലേക്കുള്ള റെയില്‍വെ യാത്രയില്‍ 750 കിലോമീറ്റരിന്റെ കുറവു വരും. ഡെല്ലി-ഡിബ്രുഗ യാത്ര വെറും മൂന്നു മണിക്കൂറാക്കി കുറയ്ക്കും. കൂടാതെ, അസമില്‍ നിന്ന് അരുണാചലിലേക്കുള്ള സൈനിക നീക്കം വളരെയധികം എളുപ്പമാക്കും. ബ്രഹ്മപുത്രാ നദിക്കു കുറുകെ നിര്‍മിച്ച ഈ പാലത്തിന് 4.9 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ നീളമാണുള്ളത്.
120 വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് പാലം നിലനില്‍ക്കുമെന്നാണ് കണക്കു കൂട്ടല്‍.
ഏറ്റവും നീളമുള്ള റോഡ്-റെയില്‍ പാലമാണെങ്കിലും ഇതിനേക്കാള്‍ നീളമുള്ള മൂന്നു പാലങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലുണ്ട്. ഭൂപെന്‍ ഹസാരിക സേതു, മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധി സേതു, ബന്ദ്ര-വുര്‍ലി കടല്‍ മാര്‍ഗം എന്നിവയാണ് അവ.
എൻജിനീയറിങ്ങിന്റെ അനന്ത സാധ്യതകൾ ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു ഡബിള്‍ ഡെക്കര്‍ പാലമാണിത്.റോഡ് മുകളിലും മൂന്നുവരി ഇരട്ടവരി റെയില്‍വെ ട്രാക്ക് അതിനു താഴെയുമായാണ് നിര്‍മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇരുമ്പും കോണ്‍ക്രീറ്റും ചേര്‍ത്തു നിര്‍മിക്കുകയും വീണ്ടും ഇരുമ്പ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ശക്തികൂട്ടുകയും ചെയ്താണ്. അടിയന്തര ഘട്ടങ്ങളില്‍ താഴെയുള്ള മൂന്നു വരിപ്പാതയില്‍ ഫൈറ്റര്‍ ജെറ്റ് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പറന്നിറങ്ങാം. ഏറ്റവും ഭാരമുള്ള ടാങ്കുകള്‍ക്ക് കടന്നു പോകുകയും ചെയ്യാം. ഭൂചലനങ്ങളുള്ള മേഖലയിലാണ് പാലം നിര്‍മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഭൂകമ്പമാപിനിയില്‍ 7 വരെയുള്ള ഭൂചലനങ്ങള്‍ പാലത്തിന് പ്രശ്‌നം വരുത്തില്ലെന്നാണ് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.
ടാറ്റാ സ്റ്റീലാണ് ഇതിനു വേണ്ട ഇരുമ്പു നല്‍കിയത്.
