പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ച് കൃത്യം ഒരു വര്‍ഷത്തിനുളള്ളില്‍ വിവാഹം നടന്നിരിക്കുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന നിത്യ കല്യാണ പെരുമാള് ക്ഷേത്രം.തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിലെ ചെന്നൈയില്‍ നിന്നും 40 കിമീ അകലെ തിരുവിടന്തെയിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം,രണ്ടായിരത്തോളം വര്‍ഷം പഴക്കമുള്ളതാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം.
തിരു ഇടഎന്തെയ് എന്നാണ് ഈക്ഷേത്രം പണ്ട് അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്.
അവിവാഹിതയെന്ന കാരണത്താല്‍ തിരികെ ഭൂമിയിലെത്തപ്പെട്ട സന്യാസ പുത്രിയെ.പിന്നീട് ഒരു ഋഷി വിവാഹം ചെയ്തും 360 കുട്ടികളുണ്ടായിത്രെ.ഈ കുട്ടികള്‍ വിവാഹപ്രായമെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു യുവാവിന് 36 കുട്ടികളെ വീതം ദിനം പ്രതി വിവാഹം ചെയ്ത് കൊടുത്തു.അവാസന ദിവം താന്‍ വരാഹ പെരുമാളാണെന്ന ആ യുവാവ് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി. പിന്നെ 360 പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളും ഒന്നിച്ച് ലക്ഷ്മി ദേവിയായെന്നുമാണ് കഥ.
കൊത്തു പണികളും ശില്‍പ്പങ്ങളും തീര്‍ത്ത 16 തൂണുകളുള്ള മണ്ഡപവും നിത്യ കല്യാണ പെരുമാള് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്‌
