15 साल से भारतीय हॉकी प्रेमी जिस पल का इंतजार कर रहे थे, अब वो पल बेहद करीब आ गया। भारत, जूनियर हॉकी विश्व कप के फाइनल में पहुंच चुका है। सांसें रोक देने वाले सेमीफाइनल मुकाबले में भारत ने, ऑस्ट्रेलिया को पेनल्टी शूटआउट में 4-2 से हराकर फाइनल में प्रवेश किया। मैच के जीत के हीरो रहे विकास दहिया को उनकी शानदार गोलकीपिंग के लिए ‘मैन ऑफ द मैच’ का खिताब मिला। वहीं 18 दिसंबर को फाइनल में भारत का मुकाबला बेल्जियम से होगा। बेल्जियम ने भी पहले सेमीफाइनल में पिछले साल के चैंपियन जर्मनी को शूटआउट में ही 4-3 से हराया। लखनऊ के मेजर ध्यानचंद हॉकी स्टेडियम में हुए मुकाबले में भारत-ऑस्ट्रेलिया का मैच निर्धारित समय तक 2-2 से बराबर समाप्त हुआ। इसके बाद पेनल्टी शूटआउट से इसका फैसला हुआ। इस दौरान विकास दहिया ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के पहले पांच में से तीन पेनल्टी शूआउट को शानदार तरीके से रोक मैच में जीत दिला दी। भारत के जीत के साथ ही स्टेडियम में बैठे दर्शकों ने तिरंगा लहराना शुरु कर दिया। आपको बता दें, इससे पहले 2002 में भारतीय जूनियर हॉकी टीम विश्व चैंपियन बनीं थी। वहीं 2005 में भारतीय जूनियर हॉकी टीम अंतिम बार सेमीफाइनल में पहुंची। तब से हर बार उसके खाते में पराजय ही लिखी गई। इस जीत के बाद भारतीय जूनियर हॉकी टीम के कोच भी अपने आसुंओ को थाम नहीं पाए, औऱ खिलाड़ियों ने पूरे स्टेडियम में तिरंगा लहराकर अपनी खुशी जताई। उधर बेल्जियम के लिए जूनियर हॉकी विश्व कप फाइनल खेलने का पहला मौका होगा।

15 साल का सूखा खत्म कर भारत ने जूनियर हॉकी वर्ल्ड कप का खिताब अपने नाम कर लिया है। भारत ने बेल्जियम को 2-1 करारी शिकस्त दे कर जूनियर हॉकी वर्ल्ड कप में जीत हांसिल की। लखनऊ के मेजर ध्यानचंद स्टेडियम में खेले गए खिताबी मुकाबले में भारत के लिए गुरजंत सिंह और सिमरनजीत सिंह ने एक-एक गोल किए। इस खिताब को जीतने के साथ ही भारत अपनी सरज़मी पर जितने वाला पहला देश बन गया है। इससे पहले भारत ने आखिरी बार 15 साल पहले जूनियर हॉकी वर्ल्डब कप जीता था, जिसमें भारत ने 2001 में अर्जेंटीना को हराया था। खिताब जीतने के बाद कप्तान हरजीत सिंह ने कहा- भारत ने दिखा दिया है कि उसकी हॉकी फिर ट्रैक पर आ गई है। इस दिन के लिए हम 2 साल से मेहनत कर रहे थे। वहीं बेहतरीन प्रदर्शन करने वाले में गुरजंत सिंह ‘मैन ऑफ द फाइनल’ बने। भारत की जीत पर पीएम मोदी ने सभी खिलाड़ियों को बधाई दी। वहीं केंद्रीय खेल मंत्री विजय गोयल ने जूनियर टीम को जीत की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि अब हॉकी के खेल में भी हम प्रगति कर रहे हैं। जूनियर हॉकी विश्व कप जीतने के मौके पर उन्होंने सभी खिलाड़ियों को 3-3 लाख रुपये इनाम की घोषणा की।

France have been the story of this 2013 Hero Hockey Junior World Cup in India. They arrived discreetly in the competition but managed to win over the American Champions (Argentina), European Champions (Belgium) and Asian Champions (Malaysia) to progress to their first ever final in a top international event.
They had however their work cut out against Germany, defending Junior World Cup champions and five time winners of the junior flagship event.
France were supported by a large colony of singing fans, but Germany killed the suspense early when Niklas Wellen stole the ball in the French circle and slotted it past a surprised Edgar Reynaud in the second minute of play.
The French promptly settled their nerves and organized their game. They were working hard, keeping the Germans at bay and not hesitating to rush forward when they saw an opening.
In the 16th minute, a quick exchange of passes found Gaspard Baumgarten alone at the top of the circle and he did not think twice to blast a shot past Victor Aly in the German goal, much to the vocal pleasure of the bleu-blanc-rouge crowd.
Germany came back with more purpose in their stride and play but, incredibly, France scored and took the lead on their first penalty-corner of the match in the 40th minute as Gaspard Baumgarten claimed his second goal of the game.
