Indian national hockey team goalkeeper, P.R. Sreejesh is the last line of defence and a stalwart for the Men In Blue since making his debut for the senior team in 2006.

Sreejesh shares the story where his coach told him to buy a kit worth Rs. 3500 which was too expensive for him at that time and how his father helped Sreejesh to buy his first kit. He then describes his journey from featuring in the junior team where he was second choice goalkeeper, to playing for the senior team.

Sreejesh was a standby goalkeeper in the senior team for around two years. He learnt a lot about goalkeeping form the likes of Bharat Chhetri, Adrian D’Souza and Baljit Singh. He emphasizes on the focus and communication required for a goalkeeper while playing at the highest level, the importance of organizing the defence.

Sreejesh feels that whenever the team concedes, the country is accountable for it and not the goalkeeper. He talks about his responsibility while playing in goal for India and the recognition he received when his performances for India were top notch.

He describes the proud moment when he showed his Indian national team jersey to his father after returning from a tour. Sreejesh also talks about the changes which should be made in hockey to make the game more interesting which will eventually help to increase in viewership and popularity..
