Google’s latest Doodle focuses on “O,” shows off synchronized swimming.

Here’s the latest Google Doodle for the London 2012 Olympics, please welcome, the synchronized swimming.

Apparently, the London 2012 synchronized swimming event will start on August 5, London local time. Clicking the Doodle will initiate a search for the event which includes the synchronized swimming’s very own Knowledge graph containing all the helpful information including the event’s brief history.

According to its Wikipedia entry, the event has been contested at the Summer Olympics since the 1984 Games. The current rules allow competition in duet and team events only but in past games, a solo event was also contested.

The United States, Canada and Japan have traditionally been the strongest nations in the sport, winning every Olympic medal from 1984 through 1996, but Russia has recently dominated, winning every event in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

The Google Doodle features 8 swimmers forming the first letter O of the Google logo. Isn’t it nice?
