Araku’s scenic valley will turn into an explosion of colours as it is all geared up to host the second edition of Araku Balloon Festival from tomorrow. The three-day festival will be from January 18 to 20. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department is organising this three-day carnival, which will be featuring hot air balloon pilots from 15 countries around the worlds. The balloons will take their flight from 6 AM to 7 AM.
With Araku, being one of the most scenic spots in the state, nestled in the Eastern Ghats range, and Araku Valley sitting at an altitude of 1300 m above the sea level, it is an amazing spot for a hot air balloon festival. The exercise has been intensified to explore the possibilities of paragliding in the high altitude areas of Una district. The location for paragliding has also been finalized from the ancient Bhartrihari temple located in Makred village of Bangana sub-division of the district. On Wednesday morning, teams of tourism department led by DC Una Raghav Sharma reached the probable location with a batch of paragliders. The paraglider explored the entire area and explored all the possibilities of paragliding and after that gave a green signal to one of the locations. However, no trial could be conducted on Wednesday due to unfavourable weather and not enough wind. So now the next day morning paragliders will fly from this place of Makrad. The members of the technical team constituted for paragliding have described the location as favorable for take off and landing.
