India is all set to travel to England for the final of the World Test Championship in the month of June and BCCI has put out some strict rules for the high-profile tour. The Indian board has made it clear to all the players that if any player is found positive on his arrival in Mumbai, he will be straightaway dropped from the WTC final and England series squad.
All the players are expected to complete their mandatory quarantine period of eight days in the Mumbai bio bubble before flying to England. The board has asked players to quarantine themselves at home before landing in Mumbai. The Indian contingent will leave for the WTC final and the subsequent England series on June 2, 2021.
The Indian cricket team’s success has been on a wide display for one and all to see. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, the team has stood well ahead of all the competing nations in the last decade, and their recent triumphs in Australia and the subsequent one against England at home have ticked almost every box.
Sri Lanka cricket is all set for a fresh beginning in the ODI format with a new captain and vice-captain in charge of the team. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced an 18-member squad that will tour Bangladesh for the three ODIs in Dhaka. Kusal Perera, the wicketkeeper-batsman, who was dropped from the team just a few months prior, has been named the new captain, replacing Dimuth Karunaratne.

he second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is set to get underway on September 19 and cricket fans worldwide must have marked their calendars. After all, IPL is arguably the most celebrated T20 competition across the globe. However, the participation of several foreign players is under dark clouds due to travel and quarantine restrictions. Notably, the high-voltage T20 World Cup will commence days after the conclusion of the Indian T20 league.
Hence, many cricket boards are skeptical of sending their players in IPL. Several England players were also expected to skip the remaining season. However, it is now learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received the green signal from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on the participation of English players. It happened due to the postponement of Bangladesh vs England white-ball series before the T20 World Cup.
For the unversed, Bangladesh was scheduled to host England in three ODIs and as many T20Is in September-October. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said the board is trying to reschedule the series after the T20 World Cup.
“Both the teams [Bangladesh and England] are playing a lot of cricket before the T20 World Cup, so we are discussing with the ECB whether the series can be hosted after the World Cup.

After ending their T20 World Cup 2021 quite early, the Indian team is all set to step up for their next assignment in form of the New Zealand series from November 17. The tour will begin with three-match T20I series followed by two Tests, taking place in Kanpur and Mumbai. In the light of back-to-back matches lined up for the team, BCCI has decided to give the team a short break from the bio bubble.
It was already in talks for a long that bio-bubble fatigue is affecting players and their performances as they have been on the road for the last six months. When India lost its first two T20 WC fixtures, the reasons were attributed to bio-bubble fatigue even then. Hence, BCCI will be giving a two-day break to players before reassemble to quarantine for the New Zealand tour.
The players who were up for the T20 WC in UAE and those who will be coming from the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament have been granted permission to go and be with their families. The players have a break of two-three days in hand depending on when they exit their current bio-bubbles.
The Indian team is all set to kick off their campaign against New Zealand from November 17 wherein the three-match T20I series will be followed by two Tests. The purest format of the game will be staged between the two cricketing giants from November 25. In the same light of events, BCCI is in a dilemma to name the Test skipper for India.
It is known for all that Indian skipper Virat Kohli took some burden off his shoulder by giving up the T20I captaincy post-T20 World Cup 2021. And, as per the squad announced by the BCCI, ace batter, Rohit Sharma will take up the charge in T20Is. However, Kohli still remains the undisputed choice for leading the side in Tests.
However, BCCI is looking forward to resting some of its senior players due to their jam-packed schedule over the last six months. Seeing the Indian side on road for six months, the announced T20I side against New Zealand do

If there is one cricketer who is constantly in news for giving feedback or suggestions, then it has got to be Ravi Ashwin. India’s premier spinner was first targeted by Sanjay Manjrekar who said he is not yet ‘an all-time great player’ while the topic is still burning, another one, this time, from former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has come. The 43-year-old told that Ashwin was deliberately kept away from the game during that period.
Ajmal had a history of always getting called out by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his action being illegal during his time with the Pakistan team from 2008 to 2015. Ashwin made his international debut in 2010, one year later to Ajmal, and has been a constant member of the Indian team. Ajmal though felt something was not right and has stated his displeasure.
“You changed all these rules and regulations without asking anyone. I was playing cricket for the last eight years. All those rules were for me. That’s it. During that period, Ashwin was out from cricket for six months. Why is that? So you can work on him and your bowler doesn’t get banned. They don’t care if a Pakistan bowler gets banned. They only care about money,”

While the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) hasn’t reached a conclusion yet, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have started their preparation for the 2022 season. The gala T20 league will undergo much transition next season which also includes tournament expansion. Two new franchises are set to come into the picture, making IPL a 10-team event. Hence, it would be interesting to see what the change in the system will result in.
For the unversed, more than eight teams have taken part in IPL before. The 2011 season also 10 saw sides fighting it out for the prestigious title while the next two editions were a nine-team event. The competition was further reduced to eight teams in the 2014 season and since then there haven’t been any changes in the number of sides. However, dynamics are set to change again for the upcoming season.
Notably, BCCI is also planning to conduct a mega auction for IPL 2022 which would see all the existing sides going under revamp. The Indian cricket board has reportedly finalized player retention rules. Earlier, three players were allowed to retain while there were two right-to-match (RTM) options.
Player retention for IPL 2022
As per the Times of India, however, four players can be retained by each franchise ahead of the 2022 bidding event. However, the condition is either a team can retain three Indians and one overseas player or two Indians and as many foreign stars.
Speaking of the 2021 competition, the gala tournament was scheduled to take place in April-May. However, the widely-spreading COVID-19 virus forced BCCI to suspend the tournament midway on May 4. The remaining matches will now take place in the United Arab Emirates in September and October. However, the going won’t be smooth for many teams as several foreign stars are expected to pull out of the tournament with the T20 World Cup commencing days after IPL’s conclusion.

Former South Africa coach Mickey Arthur has advised England players for participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to improve their Test side. It is to be noted that, Three lions faced a humiliating 4-0 Ashes series loss against Australia Down Under, which resulted in the departure of head coach Chris Silverwood, batting coach Graham Thorpe and managing director Ashley Giles.
Arthur, who joined English county Derbyshire as head of cricket after stepping down as Sri Lanka coach late last year, said county cricket is not to be blamed for England’s poor performance in Tests in recent years.
Strict bio-bubble protocols set up by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) amid the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) are taking a heavy toll on the players involved in the tournament. As a result, Islamabad United’s Alex Hales and Quetta Gladiators Ben Duckett have already pulled out of the remaining part of the tournament.
Not only foreign players, but several Pakistani players have also expressed their disappointment as they are confined to the hotel and stadium and families are also not allowed to stay with them. Players have asked the managing committee to provide some more facilities in an open-air environment.
Australia will be touring Pakistan for an all-format bilateral series starting March four and the Aussies would be visiting the neighboring country for the first time since the 1998/99 season. The visitors announced their squad for the three-match Test series last week with pacer Pat Cummins leading them from the front and batting mainstay Steve Smith appointed as his deputy. Meanwhile, an injury concern has put the current top-ranked Test side in a spot of bother just a couple of weeks prior to the opening Test.
Pacer Michael Neser has suffered a side strain injury and will not be taking part in the Test series against Pakistan. Neser suffered the injury during a Marsh One-Day Cup match in Brisbane on Monday and reporte
