इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने यूपी सरकार को झटका लगा है। कोर्ट ने सरकार के उस फैसले पर लोग लगा दी है जिसके तहत 17 पिछड़ी जातियों को एससी लिस्ट में शामिल किया गया था. हाईकोर्ट ने प्रमुख सचिव, समाज कल्याण को इस आदेश का अनुपालन करने को कहा है। इस मामले में अगली सुनवाई 9 फरवरी को होगी। अगली सुनवाई तक इस फैसले पर रोक जारी रहेगी। दरअसल 22 दिसंबर 2016 को उत्तर प्रदेश मंत्रिमण्डल ने 17 अतिपिछड़ी जातियों को अनुसूचित जाति वर्ग में शामिल करने के प्रस्ताव को पारित किया था। मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव की अध्यक्षता में हुई बैठक में 17 अतिपिछड़ी जातियों कहार, कश्यप, केवट, निषाद, बिंद, भर, प्रजापति, राजभर, बाथम, गौर, तुरा, मांझी, मल्लाह, कुम्हार, धीमर, गोडिया और मछुआ को अनुसूचित जाति में शामिल करने के प्रस्ताव पर मुहर लगाई गई थीऔर इसे जल्द ही केन्द्र की मंजूरी के लिये भेजा जाना था।
