They took the lead in the 27 minutes when they were awarded a Penalty Stroke and Zeller made sure Germany capitalised on this opportunity. Germany continued to dominate in the game but South Africa keeper Johnathan Robinson made a fantastic save to keep his team in it. However Robinson was unlucky for Germany's 2nd goal when Stralkowski shot went through the keeper's legs and at the break it was 2-0 Germany.
2nd half, Germany continued to dominate and not sit back. Germany increased their lead when Mats Grambusch made his way into the D and his shot hit the back of the net making it 3-0. 4 minutes later Germany would seal the win for the team when Christopher Ruhr made a fantastic run into the D and managed to squeeze his shot into the D, and looked like one of the best goals of the tournament but his shot was blocked as went through the wall of South African defenders but Oliver Korn was on hand to tap the ball into the net, sealing the win for Germany.

After a slow and steady start to the game, the first real chance fell to Germany's Nina Hasselmann who failed to connect with a diving effort at the far post. The first half progressed with both teams patiently passing the ball at a low tempo. Germany hit the post from their first penalty corner in the 26th minute, and then had a goal disallowed two minutes later after a video referral. Germany finished the half as the stronger team but the score remained 0-0.
The patient tempo of the match continued at the start of the second half, with Germany continuing to enjoy most of the possession. The first real chance of the half again came from a German penalty corner with Lydia Haase forcing a good save from the Chinese keeper. The breakthrough finally came in the 60th minute when Germany made it 1-0 through Hannah Kruger from a penalty corner. The lead lasted only a minute as China made it 1-1 with Peng Yang scoring powerfully

In game 3, day 6 - Germany vs Argentina looked a vital game in deciding the outcome of group B of the women's draw.
A nicely worked penalty corner inside the first five minutes of the first half brought about the first goal of the game, when Silvina D'Ella found herself with enough space inside the area to finish with aplomb. Argentina continued to be the stronger team and after a succession of disallowed goals finally got one to stick when Noel Barrionuevo converted a penalty corner going into the last five minutes of the half.
Into the second half and Germany tried in vain to get a foot hold into the game as Argentina continued to dominate and create the better openings. Eleven minutes Rebecchi exchanged passes with Sanchez and finished well to put Argentina 3 up. Germany had to wait until the dying moments of the game to get their best chance of the game hitting the post after some careless Argentina defending but in the end it was the Lionesses day who capped off a fine day for their nation, following their male counter parts and winning well.

'The reigning Olympic champions Germany took on host nation the Netherlands in Friday's evening game at the 2014 Rabobank Men's Hockey World Cup.
This rematch of the 2012 Olympic final began with the Dutch team having the majority of possession in front of an electric home crowd. Jeroen Hertzberger opened the scoring for the Dutch in the 19th minute after Jelle Galema's great pacy run down the wing and cross into the centre. The half time score was 1-0.
Germany started stronger at the beginning of the second half and from their first penalty corner in the 55th minute forced a smart save from the Dutch keeper. Minutes later, Nicolas Jacobi had to make an even better save to deny the Netherlands scoring again. The final 10 minutes saw a frantic German team desperately trying to score knowing that only a win would really suffice. Germany had a penalty corner right at the death and with boos raining down from the crowd they fluffed the set play and the game ended 1-0 to the Netherlands.

'10th Day of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup, and we see Germany take one Korea in the Men's Pool B final game.
1st Half and it was all Germany who took charge of the game and they went 1-0 up when Florian Fuchs made the run towards the D and his cross was met by Christopher Wesley who tapped the ball into the net. IT was 2-0 soon after when Zeller crossed the ball into the path of Benideict Furk who again touched the ball into the net. Germany, who were in full control of the game, and Martin Zwicker made it 3-0 before the break with a lovely solo run and goal, putting Germany 3-0 up.
2nd Half and although Germany still looked strong, Korea managed to grab a consolation goal when they were awarded a Penalty Corner with was dragflicked in, with help from deflection by Hyunwoo Nam. 3-1, Korea, of course, was hoping for a comeback story but it wasn't mean to be when Fuchs increased Germany's lead to 4-1, a great team goal. The next goal came when Strakowski made a brilliant run into the D, dodging the Korean defenders but was unable to get a shot away but Oliver Korn was there to tap the ball in, 5-1 German. And the German's dominance was not over when they were award a Penalty Corner at last hit of the game and they made it count when Linus Butt converted his dragflick, finishing the game 6-1 to Germany.

1st Half, both teams defended well creating minimal amount of chances. Germany had the first real chance when Hoffman met the ball in the D but couldn't direct the ball into the net. England were near to scoring themselves when Townsend went on the run and executed a good shot but it went wide of the post and Watton was unable to get any connection on to it. Hassleman for Germany was close to scoring soon after, but Maddie Hinch save made sure England stayed in the game.
2nd half and it was England who came out strong and they showed this when Hannah Macleod received the ball into the D and showing good calm and composure to turn past the defenders and shoot straight past the German keeper, putting England 1-0 up. They were soon 2-0 up when Susie Gilbert made a run in the D from the right wing, and her shot was deflected in but this was deemed a goal to Gilbert. England playing with confidence increased their lead and this time it was quick thinking from Susannah Townsend who capitalised from a mistake by a German defender, making it England 3-Germany 0. Germany were not going to let England win without a fight when they were awarded a Penalty Corner, and Hannah Kruger took her chance giving Germany a goal, and spurring her team to a late comeback. In a tense first half, South Africa's Sulette Damons was the stand-out player with her mazy runs. The USA came close to opening the scoring in the 31st minute when Paige Selenski was found unmarked in the circle but dragged her shot wide of the post. With a minute until halftime the USA were awarded a penalty stroke and Caroline Nichols put her nation 1-0 up.
Mere seconds into the second half, South Africa equalised through Marsha Cox after a long pass into the circle by Kathleen Taylor. The USA replied three minutes later and went 2-1 up after Katie Reinprecht converted a penalty corner with a diving effort. Unfortunately, Sulette Damons hurt her ankle whilst bravely defending the PC and had to be taken off. In the 45th minute, the USA were awarded their second penalty stroke of the game and this time Lauren Crandall stepped up and fired her team into a 3-1 lead. South Africa raced down the other half and drew the score back to 3-2 within a minute with Lisa-Marie Deetlefs scoring from a PC. Rachel Dawson extended the USA's lead to 4-2 in the 57th minute from another PC to ensure the American's place in the semi-finals.
