'10th Day of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup, and we see Germany take one Korea in the Men's Pool B final game.

1st Half and it was all Germany who took charge of the game and they went 1-0 up when Florian Fuchs made the run towards the D and his cross was met by Christopher Wesley who tapped the ball into the net. IT was 2-0 soon after when Zeller crossed the ball into the path of Benideict Furk who again touched the ball into the net. Germany, who were in full control of the game, and Martin Zwicker made it 3-0 before the break with a lovely solo run and goal, putting Germany 3-0 up.

2nd Half and although Germany still looked strong, Korea managed to grab a consolation goal when they were awarded a Penalty Corner with was dragflicked in, with help from deflection by Hyunwoo Nam. 3-1, Korea, of course, was hoping for a comeback story but it wasn't mean to be when Fuchs increased Germany's lead to 4-1, a great team goal. The next goal came when Strakowski made a brilliant run into the D, dodging the Korean defenders but was unable to get a shot away but Oliver Korn was there to tap the ball in, 5-1 German. And the German's dominance was not over when they were award a Penalty Corner at last hit of the game and they made it count when Linus Butt converted his dragflick, finishing the game 6-1 to Germany. .

    There were two goals in quick succession in the second half.     2nd half, Germany continued to dominate and not sit back. Germany increased their lead when Mats Grambusch made his way into the D and his shot hit the back of the net making it 3-0. 4 minutes later Germany would seal the win for the team when Christopher Ruhr made a fantastic run into the D and managed to squeeze his shot into the D, and looked like one of the best goals of the tournament but his shot was blocked as went through the wall of South African defenders but Oliver Korn was on hand to tap the ball into the net, sealing the win for Germany.

England were near to scoring themselves when Townsend went on the run and executed a good shot but it went wide of the post and Watton was unable to get any connection on to it. Hassleman for Germany was close to scoring soon after, but Maddie Hinch save made sure England stayed in the game.

    2nd half and it was England who came out strong and they showed this when Hannah Macleod received the ball into the D and showing good calm and composure to turn past the defenders and shoot straight past the German keeper, putting England 1-0 up. They were soon 2-0 up when Susie Gilbert made a run in the D from the right wing, and her shot was deflected in but this was deemed a goal to Gilbert. England playing with confidence increased their lead and this time it was quick thinking from Susannah Townsend who capitalised from a mistake by a German defender, making it England 3-Germany 0. Germany were not going to let England win without a fight when they were awarded a Penalty Corner, and Hannah Kruger took her chance giving Germany a goal, and spurring her team to a late comeback.     The start of the game was balanced and produced very little scoring opportunities with only two shots on target coming from Korea after 20 minutes. Korea finally broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute through a field goal from Kim Jong-eun and the game went into the half time break at 1-0.

    It only took two minutes from the restart for Japan to make the score 1-1 from their first penalty corner of the tournament with Shihori Oikawa finishing from the top of the circle. Both teams then had good chances saved as the game opened up. Korea ended the game putting a lot of pressure on the Japanese defence, but could not find a way through to win the match and keep up with Australia and the Netherlands at the top of Pool A.

    Both teams came into the game having lost their first two matches of the tournament, and the first half was a cautious affair with no clear cut chances. Korea went close with a shot from Kim Seong-kyu that just went wide of the post, but neither team could break the deadlock and halftime arrived with the score 0-0.

    Julian Hykes almost gave South Africa the lead in the 39th minute when he broke away but fluffed his lines when he was one-on-one with the keeper and shot wide. The two hard-working, disciplined teams did not look like scoring and when Korea did score from a penalty corner it was disallowed after the South Africans asked for a video referral. Goalkeeper Lee Myung-ho then made three excellent saves in quick succession to keep Korea in the game. Neither side were able to score and the game finished as the first 0-0 tie of the 2014 World Cup.
