Both teams had narrow wins on opening day and started the match cautiously, not wanting to risk falling behind early. Things started to heat up after ten minutes. South Africa bobbled their first penalty-corner but Matthew Brown made no mistake on the second one, slotting the ball high out of reach of Hafizuddin Othman in the Malaysian goal.
The Asian Champions reacted immediately and besieged the South African circle, calling keeper Rene De La Peyre into action left and right. Play was fast and entertaining and it was soon the turn of South Africa to be threatening, earning a penalty-corner after Ignatius Malgraff cut through the whole Malaysian defense. The corner was upgraded to a penalty-stroke but Matthew Brown's attempt was well guessed by the keeper, maintaining the narrow Malaysian lead.

Pool D leaders Malaysia took the lead 15 minutes in, Mohd Bin Hashim's dragflick, from a penalty corner.
Malaysia doubled their lead; a fantastic run down the left from Azuan Hasan, Hasan's pull back found Ashari Firhan who dispatched the shot between the keeper's legs.

'Day 6 of the Men Junior's Hockey World Cup in Delhi and its Quarter Final 2. Asian Champions Malaysia had been hugely impressive since the beginning of this Junior World Cup, and were pitted in this quarter-final against Asian rival Korea, who had shown strong character in their last pool match against India to come back from a 2-goal deficit and edge the local team out of contention.
First Half started slow for both teams as they found there feet into the game. Malaysia, wearing a brightly colours yellow top, struck first when a cross into the D was met by Shahril Saabah and Malaysia went 1-0 up. Malaysia kept up the momentum and could have added a second when GOVINDASAMY Kartik Govindasamy hit from outside the D hit off Shahril Saabah stick and hit the upright and was cleared out by LEE Mookyoung, keeping Korea in the game. However Korea struck back 6 minutes before half time when YOU Seungju scored from a Penalty Corner leveling the scores before the break.
Beginning of second period was somewhat messy, neither team wanting to give an inch and tempers flaring often. Malaysia had the territorial edge but could not capitalize on the opportunities they created and Korea where still keeping their heads above water going into the last ten minutes of the period.

The bronze medal game of the Men's Hero Hockey World Cup in India took place between Malaysia and the Netherlands with the Dutch comfortable 7-2 winners.
The Netherlands drew first blood in the 3rd minute when their captain Roel Bovendeert progressed along the back line, attempted a high shot and batted in goal the rebound from the goal-keeper.
The Dutch did not waste any time and added a second goal three minutes later from Thierry Brinkman. Malaysia responded with a penalty-corner and, with three goals in four minutes, the match was launched on a high note!
The Netherlands had another defensive scare but progressively took control of midfield, making the Malaysians run after their long and patient passes. They had a penalty-corner in the 18th minute, which was not scored directly, but Tom Hiebendaal managed to find the ball in the mad goalmouth scramble that ensued and push it in goal.
The Netherlands increased their lead in the 23rd minute by Milan Van Baal with a sweet deflection behind his back, his sixth goal of the competition. Thierry Brinkman soon scored his second of the match and, down 1-5 going into the break, the road ahead seemed rather steep for the young Malaysian team.

The final day of the Men's Hero Hockey Junior World Cup in India saw Korea and New Zealand compete for 7th and 8th place with New Zealand winning 4-2.
Both teams showed from the start that they were in attacking mood and Jeremy Morris gave the advantage to the Black Sticks in the 11th minute with a powerful back hand that went through the keeper. Korea came back on par immediately by You Minyoung pouncing on a cross mishandled by the New Zealand defence.
Kane Russell continued the scoring spree with a penalty-corner flick that was nearly stopped by the keeper's stick but still trickled over the line.
Korea were credited with a goal when the ball slightly brushed off the pads of Richard Joyce in the Black Sticks goal and the video-umpire decided on an own goal. The see-saw continued and New Zealand regained the lead just before half-time with another penalty-corner by Kane Russell.
New Zealand also missed their good share of chances, including a monumental opportunity when Jeremy Morris missed a perfect pass alone on the far post after Kane Russell wiggled his way through the whole Korean defence.
New Zealand earned a penalty-corner literally in the last second of play, allowing Kane Russell to complete a hat-trick.
New Zealand finished in 7th place of the 2013 Hero Hockey Junior World Cup, pushing Korea down to 8th.

Both teams wanted to redeem themselves after losing their opening matches and play was immediately animated. England drew first blood in the 14th minute by James Gall, cleverly pulling away from traffic in the circle to find space and blast a shot on goal.
They nearly doubled their tally when Nicholas Bandurak arrived alone in the circle after stealing a ball in midfield but he was thwarted by Richard Joyce in the Black Sticks goal. England however did not miss their chance on the resulting penalty-corner and Luke Taylor increased their lead to 2-0 with a high drag-flick.
New Zealand came back firing on all cylinders after the break and immediately forced a couple of penalty-corners. They bobbled the first one but Kane Russell's low flick hit the target on the second one, bringing back the Kiwis within reach of England in the 39th minute. They kept the momentum and created time and again mayhem in the English defense but could not capitalize on the next penalty-corner.
England had trouble keeping their head above water in this period. They managed to maintain their structure but were at times individually outplayed by the skilled New-Zealanders. English goal-keeper Harry Gibson kept his team alive with a fantastic save on a penalty-corner, but he could not do anything on a shot from close range by Matt Rees-Gibbs to tie the game in the 68th minute!

New Zealand got there breakthrough in the 10 minutes into the second half, Kane Russell getting his fourth goal of the tournament, this one coming from a penalty corner, a powerful dragflick into the side netting.
Moments later Kane Russell was denied his second of the game by am unbelievable save from Richard Curtis.

However The Netherland hit back straight after taking the lead again scoring an excellent Team Goal scored by Thierry Brinkman his second of the match.
