Rejecting US demand for the arrest of LeT Chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and taking strong exception to announcement of $ 10 million head money for him, Pakistan has once asked the United States to respect the country's red lines regarding�:its territorial sovereignty and integrity.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar conveyed Pakistan's position to the US Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Nides during delegation level talks on Wednesday. During the meeting Pak-US relations, restoration of NATO supplies, arrest of LeT leaders and Afghanistan came under discussion.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office spokesman responding to the $10 million bounty on Hafiz Saeed placed by the US, said Pakistan will give priority to solid evidence provided against Hafiz Saeed.
He added that solid evidence was required to initiate legal action against Saeed. The Foreign Office spokesman emphasized that Pakistan was a democratic country with an independent judiciary and evidence against anyone required judicial scrutiny.
�In a democratic country like Pakistan, where judiciary is independent, evidence against anyone must withstand judicial scrutiny,�: the spokesman added in a statement. The reward for Saeed, the founder of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group blamed for the 2008 Mumbai attacks, was announced by US Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman in India on Monday.
