Propaganda is important, whether you?re the brutal leader of a violent army or the people trying to stop him.
The organization Invisible Children has a new video about Ugandan Lord?s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony, and the 30-minute take down piece has gone viral online.
Kony, who has been indicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity, has been on a violent campaign against the Ugandan government since 1986. Since then, the warlord and his army have reportedly displaced more than 2 million people and abducted 66,000 children.
Filmmaker Jason Russell?s video, titled ?Kony 2012,? scored nearly 3 million views just this week, with some social media help from the likes of Roger Ebert and a groundswell of young people sharing the 30-minute piece online.
Will it make a difference? Invisible Children hopes the video will keep the pressure on.

KONY 2012 'Invisible Children' Video Attacking Uganda Warlord Joseph Kony Goes Viral

Joseph Kony becomes unlikely Internet trend in campaign to stop child soldiers

Joseph Kony is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader, head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). While initially enjoying strong public support, the LRA turned brutally on its own supporters, supposedly to 'purify' the Acholi people and turn Uganda into a theocracy ruled by Kony's personal interpretation of the Ten Commandments.
The LRA is a militant group with a syncretic pseudo-Christian extreme religious ideology, known for the atrocities they commit against civilians, including murder, mutilations, rape, and in some accounts even cannibalism.
Directed by Kony, the LRA has earned a reputation for its actions against the people of several countries, including northern Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Sudan. It has abducted and forced an estimated 66,000 children to fight for them, and has forced the internal displacement of over two million people since its rebellion began in 1986.
In 2005 Kony was indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, but has evaded capture

If Joseph Kony lived in relative anonymity before this week, he's an internet star now.
A video about the atrocities carried out by Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, called Kony 2012, has racked up nearly 50 million views since Monday.

In response to Kony 2012 video made by InvisibleChildren, I do not think the LRA or Kony is good and I do not support them.
I trust the 100 U.S. military troops already sent are doing their job to find Kony, whether he is dead or alive and do what needs to be done for the sake of Central Africa.
I am just promoting the education one should do before they believe everything they see. The Kony 2012 Video is not the only information you should rely on. Research. I am all for the cause, just not the video that was made.

A worldwide Internet campaign designed to capture a brutal African warlord has certainly captured the world's attention.

The online video 'Kony 2012' focuses on the murderous Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony.

It's now the fastest-growing viral video in history.

Posted online Monday, 'Kony 2012' had 70-million views by Friday morning.

The man who made the video credits young people and social media with the viral success.

'These are children and young people, 25 and younger, saying 'Mom, Dad...we want you to pay attention to this right now,'' explains Jason Russell.

Russell's video documents the brutal exploits of Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony, his notorious 'Lord's Resistance Army' and their reign of terror that includes kidnapping children of Uganda and three neighboring countries.

The boys are turned into child soldiers; the girls are used as sex slaves.

It's called 'Kony 2012' because the goal is to catch Kony by the end of the year.

Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie and Justin Bieber have latched on.

The group 'Invisible Children,' co-founded by Russell, is promoted in the video.

Three days ago, portions of the well-intentioned masses began to question their support. Facts emerged. Invisible Children received a lowish two stars for transparency and accountability on the Web site CharityNavigator.org. And the content of the film, some protested, was muckraking but misleading - failing to acknowledge that Joseph Kony, the Ugandan warlord who recruited and enslaved children, is no longer the threat that he was in the early 2000s. His once-voluminous Lord's Resistance Army is now thought to number just a few hundred followers. Further, officials believe he is no longer in Uganda.
