We recently told you guys that Oscar winner, Benecio Del Toro was one of the newest cast members to join Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and while we didn't know anything about the details of his casting, Deadline was reporting that he had signed on for multiple Marvel movies. This led many to think, and even hope, that Del Toro would be playing the ultimate Mad Titan baddie, Thanos. Well today, a source is telling Comic Book Movie that the actor will not be Thanos, but will instead be playing Taneleer Tivian, also known as The Collector. Now, this was a role that fans were hoping Lee Pace was in the running for, as he was cast recently as an unnamed baddie. So if Del Toro is actually The Collector, that will kinda help us narrow down some of the many villanous possibilies for Pace. And if this Del Toro news is accurate, this could tell us a lot about what's happening in the next few Marvel movies. But, here's a little backstory first. The Collector is one of the oldest sentient beings in the Marvel Universe, and is the last surviving member of his species. Think survival of the fittest here. He got his name from collecting special artifacts and keeping them in museums. A collection that he thinks would be useful in re-seeding the universe if it should ever be annihilated. And it's not just items that he collects either. He has also been known to try and add members of The Avengers to his stash, specifically Thor and Wasp. Which makes us wonder....co.
