Guardians of the Galaxy is in full on casting mode and we have some updates that may just make your day. Deadline is reporting that Benicio Del Toro has joined the cast of the James Gunn directed, Guardians of the Galaxy. While nothing is known just yet about which character he will play, he apparently has signed on for multiple movies and his role is said to be one that will have a future in other Marvel films. And that's not all, Doctor Who fans will be all over this next casting, and that's because THR is also reporting that Karen Gillan (who appeared as Doctor Who's companion on the BBC show) is also joining the star studded cast as the lead female villain, fighting alongside other baddies in the cast which include Lee Pace and possibly Michael Rooker
Other cast members include Glenn Close, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and shooting said to begin in late June in the UK. So, what are your thoughts on these Guardians casting updates? We recently told you guys that Oscar winner, Benecio Del Toro was one of the newest cast members to join Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and while we didn't know anything about the details of his casting, Deadline was reporting that he had signed on for multiple Marvel movies. This led many to think, and even hope, that Del Toro would be playing the ultimate Mad Titan baddie, Thanos. Well today, a source is telling Comic Book Movie that the actor will not be Thanos, but will instead be playing Taneleer Tivian, also known as The Collector. Now, this was a role that fans were hoping Lee Pace was in the running for, as he was cast recently as an unnamed baddie. So if Del Toro is actually The Collector, that will kinda help us narrow down some of the many villanous possibilies for Pace. And if this Del Toro news is accurate, this could tell us a lot about what's happening in the next few Marvel movies. But, here's a little backstory first. The Collector is one of the oldest sentient beings in the Marvel Universe, and is the last surviving member of his species. Think survival of the fittest here. He got his name from collecting special artifacts and keeping them in museums. A collection that he thinks would be useful in re-seeding the universe if it should ever be annihilated. And it's not just items that he collects either. He has also been known to try and add members of The Avengers to his stash, specifically Thor and Wasp. Which makes us wonder....co

Hellboy 3 has been a shelved project for years, and according to Guillermo del Toro, on the shelf is where it will stay. The director recently sat down with Collider to talk about his upcoming action sci-fier, Pacific Rim, and del Toro offered up little to no hope of seeing Hellboy 3 on the big screen any time soon. He said quote 'It's very unlikely it'll happen because you need things to converge so strongly. [Producer] Larry Gordon, Universal, the rights, Ron [Perlman's] and mine's availability, [comic creator] Mike [Mingola's] blessing; we have pieces of that, but we don't have all of that.' So, clearly all the stars have to be aligned if we will ever see a Hellboy 3, and del Toro added that they would also need a hefty budget of around $150 million to produce. Hellboy II: The Golden Army made around $160 million back in 2008, with a budget of $85 million, and even though the studio made a profit on the sequel, it wasn't quite enough to gamble on a third film for double the budget. But if the opportunity did ever present itself, del Toro already has a story in place, but its a story that will be preserved only for the movies. The director did have a conversation with the comic's creator, Mike Mingola, about potentially incorporating his vision and story into the comics, but Mike was clear that del Toro's mythology needs to be completely separate and preserved only for the film.
