ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയെ ആദ്യമായി കാവി പുതപ്പിക്കുന്നത് ബി. എസ്. യെദ്യൂരപ്പ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു. കര്‍ണാടകയില്‍ അന്ന് വരെ നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന രാഷ്ട്രീയ ചരിത്രങ്ങള്‍ തിരുത്തി എഴുതിയത് യെദ്യൂരപ്പയുടെ ചാണക്യ തന്ത്രങ്ങളായിരുന്നു.കര്‍ണാടകയില്‍ ബി ജെ പിയെ വീണ്ടും പഴയ പ്രതാപത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കാന്‍ യെദ്യൂരപ്പക്കു സാധിക്കുമെന്ന കേന്ദ്രനേതൃത്വത്തിന്റെ കണക്കു കൂട്ടലുകലാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ 2018-ലെ നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിള്‍ യെധ്യുരപ്പയെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പദത്തില്‍ എത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ബി.ജെ.പി.ക്ക് കാര്യമായ ശക്തിയില്ലാതിരുന്ന 1988 കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് യെദ്യൂരപ്പ ആദ്യമായി പാര്‍ട്ടി പ്രസിഡന്റ് സ്ഥാനത്തെത്തുന്നത്. 1994-ലെ നിയമസഭാ കൗണ്‍സില്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി.യെ പ്രതിപക്ഷ സ്ഥാനത്തെത്തിക്കുന്നതില്‍ മുഖ്യ പങ്ക് യെധ്യുരപ്പ നിര്‍വഹിച്ചു .2004 ആയപ്പോഴേക്കും പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവായി യെദ്യൂരപ്പ മാറിയെദ്യൂരപ്പയുടെ തന്ത്രങ്ങളില്‍ ഒടുവില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി. സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് വിജയം നേടുകയും യെദ്യൂരപ്പ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.എന്നാല്‍ ഒടുവില്‍ ഗ്രൂപ്പ് പോരിന് ഇരയായി യെദ്യൂരപ്പക്ക് തല്‍സ്ഥാനം രാജി വെക്കേണ്ടതായി വന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് നടന്ന തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി.യില്‍ നിന്ന് വിട്ട് കര്‍ണാടക ജനതാ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കി മത്സരിച്ചപ്പോഴും യെദ്യൂരപ്പക്ക് കരുത്ത് തെളിയിക്കാനായി. ഇത്തവണ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ലിംഗായത്ത് വിഭാഗക്കാരുടെ പിന്തുണ ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നതില്‍ യെദ്യൂരപ്പയ്ക്കുള്ള പങ്ക് കുറച്ചല്ല. 2013-ല്‍ യെദ്യൂരപ്പ പാര്‍ട്ടി വിട്ടപ്പോള്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി. തകര്‍ന്നടിഞ്ഞു. അധികാരത്തിലിരുന്ന പാര്‍ട്ടി 40 സീറ്റില്‍ ഒതുങ്ങി. അദ്ദേഹം തിരച്ചെത്തിയതിനുശേഷം നടന്ന തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി. വിജയം നേടി. 2014-ലെ ലോക്സഭ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ 28 മണ്ഡലങ്ങളില്‍ 17 എണ്ണം ബി.ജെ.പി.ക്കായിരുന്നു. 2015-ലെ തദ്ദേശസ്വയംഭരണ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിലും ബി.ജെ.പി.ക്കായിരുന്നു വിജയം. ഇത് മുന്നില്‍ക്കണ്ടാണ് യെദ്യൂരപ്പയെ കേന്ദ്രനേതൃത്വം മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിസ്ഥാനാര്‍ഥിയാക്കി തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിനെ നേരിട്ടത്. അനിശ്ചിതത്വങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും ബാക്കി നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും കര്‍ണാടക ബിജെപിയെ വീണ്ടും തന്‍റെ കൈപ്പിടിയിലാക്കി അധ്കാരമെല്‍ക്കുകയാണ് യെധ്യുരപ്പ

21 अक्टूबर 2017: CBI डायरेक्टर अलोक वर्मा ने CVC के पैनल के सामने स्पेशल डायरेक्टर के रूप में राकेश अस्थाना की नियुक्ति पर आपत्ति जताई। स्टर्लिंग बायोटेक घोटाले में अस्थाना की भूमिका पर सवाल उठने के कारण अलोक वर्मा ने विरोध दर्ज किया था।
22 अक्टूबर 2017: केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति ने अस्थाना को CBI के स्पेशल डायरेक्टर के तौर पर नियुक्त किया।
12 जुलाई 2018: CVC ने मीटिंग में राकेश अस्थाना को नंबर 2 की हैसियत में बुलाया जिसका अलोक वर्मा ने विरोध किया।
24 अगस्त 2018: राकेश अस्थाना ने CVC को पत्र लिखा जिसमे उन्होंने मोईन कुरैशी मामले में डायरेक्टर अलोक वर्मा पर कारोबारी सतीश सना से दो करोड़ रूपये रिश्वत लेने का आरोप लगाया।
4 अक्टूबर 2018: कारोबारी सतीश सना को CBI ने हिरासत में लिया। सना ने दावा किया कि क्लीन चिट के लिए उसने राकेश अस्थाना को 3 करोड़ दिए।
15 अक्टूबर 2018: CBI ने स्पेशल डायरेक्टर अस्थाना के खिलाफ रिश्वतखोरी के आरोप में FIR दर्ज किया।

26 अक्टूबर 2018: सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पूर्व जज एके पटनायक को अलोक वर्मा के खिलाफ CVC की चल रही जांच की निगरानी करने के लिए नियुक्त किया । अंतरिम डायरेक्टर नागेश्वर राव पर नीतिगत फैसले लेने की रोक लगी।
12 नवंबर 2018: CVC ने अलोक वर्मा के खिलाफ जांच की दो रिपोर्ट सुप्रीम कोर्ट को सौंपी। 16 नवंबर को मामले की सुनवाई होगी।
