റഫാൽ ഇടപാടില്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫിസ് നടത്തിയ ഇടപെടലുകളെപ്പറ്റി കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയില്‍ നിന്ന് മറച്ചുവച്ചു. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫീസിനെതിരെ പ്രതിരോധ സെക്രട്ടറി വിയോജനക്കുറിപ്പ് നൽകിയതും കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാർ റഫാല്‍ കേസില്‍ സുപ്രീംകോടതിയിൽ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെന്ന് വ്യക്തമായി. റാഫാല്‍ വിവാദം പുതിയ തലത്തിലേക്ക് നീളുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് പുതിയ കളികളും വെളിച്ചത്താകുന്നത്. പ്രതിരോധ ഇടപാടുകളിൽ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഇടപെടുന്നത് അസാധാരണമെന്ന് വിദഗ്ധർ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു. രണ്ടു രാജ്യങ്ങൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള നയതന്ത്ര വിഷയങ്ങൾ വന്നാൽ മാത്രമേ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഇടപെടാറുള്ളൂ.
റഫാലിൽ അത്തരമൊന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടാൻ കേന്ദ്രത്തിനാവുന്നില്ല.
ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷാ കൗൺസിൽ അധ്യക്ഷനെന്ന നിലയിൽ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഒരു പ്രതിരോധ കരാറിന്റെ വിശദാംശങ്ങൾ തേടിയതിൽ തെറ്റില്ലെന്നാണ് നിർമല സീതാരാമൻ പറയുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ പ്രതിരോധ സാമഗ്രികൾ വാങ്ങുന്നതിനായുള്ള നടപടി ക്രമങ്ങൾ പ്രകാരം ഇതിൽ തെറ്റുണ്ട്. സാങ്കേതികവശം, വില എന്നീ രണ്ട് കാര്യങ്ങളിലാണ് ഉൽപാദക കമ്പനിയുമായി ധാരണയിലെത്തേണ്ടത്. പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രി അധ്യക്ഷനായ വിദഗ്ധ സമിതിക്കാണ് ഇതിന്റെ ചുമതല. സേനാ മേധാവി മാർ, പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിലെ ഉന്നതർ, പ്രതിരോധ ഗവേഷണ വികസന കേന്ദ്രം മേധാവി, തുടങ്ങിയവരാണ് അംഗങ്ങൾ. രാജ്യങ്ങൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള നയതന്ത്ര പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ മാത്രമേ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിതല ഇടപെടൽ അനിവാര്യമാകുന്നുള്ളൂ.
2015ൽ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നടത്തിയ ഫ്രാൻസ് യാത്രയിൽ പൊതു വിഷയങ്ങൾ മാത്രമാവും ചർച്ചയാവുകയെന്നാണ് വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയവും പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നത്.
