COVID-19 has breached the Indian camp on the England tour. After Ravi Shastri, the RT-PCR results of bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar have also returned positive results for the virus. There is no information yet on the reports of the fourth member physiotherapist Nitin Patel who also underwent RT-PCR test after being deemed as a close contact of Shastri.
All the four members are currently missing from India’s dressing room since Day 4 of the ongoing Oval Test as head coach’s Ravi Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive. The other three support staff members were also isolated in their respective hotel rooms as they all underwent RT-PCR tests. Shastri, meanwhile, is also experiencing COVID symptoms like sore throat.
The century-drought of India’s skipper Virat Kohli continued as he was dismissed at 44 by Moeen Ali during the fourth Test at the Oval. The captain seemed to be a bit disappointed by himself after he edged Ali straight to Overton at slips. The former England cricketer and well-known commentator David Lloyd has opened up on Kohli’s performance in the ongoing Test series.

The former all-rounder took to Twitter and made a spree of posts that went viral in no time. Party was certainly on his mind as Shastri’s dashing pictures gave fashion goals to several youngsters. The manner in which Virat Kohli was removed from the ODI captaincy position raised some eyebrows. Kohli was sacked from his role, which was given to Rohit Sharma. Rohit is now the captain of the limited-overs side of the Indian team.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has now provided his take on this matter. He was there when Kohli decided to step down from the T20I captaincy position. Shastri’s contract came to an end after the completion of the T20 World Cup 2021
Kohli had already told the selectors that he would like to remain the captain of the ODI and the Test side. However, the selectors ignored his wish and went ahead with their decision. Shastri has mentioned that this move might be a blessing in disguise for both the captains.
“It’s the right way to go. This could be a blessing in disguise for Virat and Rohit. For one guy to handle all three formats is not easy at all in this time of living in and out of bio-bubbles because of Covid.
“Virat can focus on red-ball cricket and lead for as long as he wants to lead in Tests. It will allow him to sit back and think on his game because he’s got a good 5-6 years left in him,” Shastri said.
Earlier this week, Shastri had also said that Sourav Ganguly, BCCI’s president, should come out to give his side of the story, after Kohli’s claims during his press conference. He also mentioned that both parties could have settled this matter with better communication.
“Virat has given his side of the story, it needs the board president to give his side of the story. With good communication, the situation could have been handled better,” Shastri had said.

The now 28-year-old Bumrah made his debut in limited-overs cricket back in 2016 and it took him two more years to play the red and pink-ball format.
India’s Test series against the Proteas back then didn’t turn out to be a fruitful one for the visitors as they lost it 1-2. After losing in Cape Town and Centurion, the visiting team secured a consolation win in the Johannesburg Test. Australia batter David Warner has talked about his desire of doing well on tours of India and England before bidding adieu to Test cricket. Warner, who turned 35 years old back in October, has had a torrid time in recent years while playing series on Indian and English soil. In the 2019 Ashes, Warner scored only 95 runs in 10 innings as fast bowler Stuart Broad got him out for fun.
The New South Wales-born Warner also averages a mere 24.80 on the slow and low pitches in India. Moreover, Australia have lost four series on the trot in India.
