Digital technologies are ushering a new era and driving transformative changes in every industry, as organizations adopt these technologies to redefine how they create, deliver, and capture value. Identifying, understanding, and addressing new risks associated with digital transformation will help businesses derive more value from their efforts in the future. Many organizations have been quick to not only update their technology infrastructures but also transform their operating models, customer engagement models, and even fundamental business models. Organizations understand that digital transformation can capture new growth opportunities while heading off the threat of disruption. Quantum computers have limitless potentials.

There is no doubt that one day quantum computers will find a cure for cancer or help in eliminating world hunger. But along with this, they could also help hackers get access to our most private data by breaking encryption. While quantum computing is beneficial, quantum hacking is dangerous. Quantum hacking is the biggest threat to encryption. With digital transformation, everything is now digital, even data, and all our digital data like emails, chats, online purchases, etc are encrypted which makes it unreadable without a decryption key. This prevents our data in the cloud and our computers from being tampered with. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is the most commonly used method for encrypting all this data. With today’s classical computers it is impossible to break AES encryption, but through quantum computers, it is possible to decrypt the encrypted data.

The future of workplace would tackle the newer security risks

The pandemic has boosted the remote work which has become the norm. This has led to immense growth in the demand for cloud computing software from companies transitioning their on-premise operations to the digital space. Edge cloud computing in particular saw a demand rise as operations enabled by the internet of things became increasingly common. There has been a shift in the way people think about enterprise security. The largest threat to a quickly changing workforce is the awareness perspective. Like, we can’t expect employees to practice good security if they aren’t aware of the dangers of working from home. “When you authenticate, when you VPN, you extend the company network to your home network that could be riddled with malware. If they aren’t aware of that, we can’t expect a lot of awareness from them. They have to understand why they need a VPN.”

Security awareness has got more visibility in the WFH environment, with an increasing attack surface and a workforce that has to be more self-reliant when it comes to securing their devices and home networks, as well as recognizing the increase of threats designed to take advantage of virus fears and stuck-at-home boredom. Hence, it is important for the companies to engage deeply to understand the availability of the security technologies. Supply chain attacks like 2020’s SolarWinds virus – where hackers opened backdoors into companies’ internal systems by exploiting a compromised third-party application – will likely become more common as hackers learn from each other and exploit vulnerable enterprise systems.

    Collaboration Platforms posing risks

There has been a widespread adoption of collaboration platforms across industries to improve and personalize Customer Experience. Organizations are using these platforms in innovative ways to improve, personalize and hence deliver better Customer experience to a variety of customers across rural and urban areas. This has helped companies establish a better connection with a larger customer base and gives customers the flexibility to connect from anywhere, anytime and across any device/platform. Beyond connecting with customers, companies are also using collaboration platforms in a variety of ways to enable new ways of working, learning, service delivery, hosting events and empowering a hybrid workforce. In the post-pandemic world, collaboration and conferencing tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, etc. have replaced desk chatter, watercooler conversations and even email. As we approach the end of 2021, organizations across the globe have understood the importance of the hybrid work space and are preparing their teams for this new normal. As a semblance of normalcy resumed during the latter half of the year, we saw organizations adopt a mix of remote, hybrid and physical setups in different mixes as were best suited to their objectives.

Virtual Care and Telehealth are here to stay and the past couple of years have really highlighted the importance of virtual healthcare. Telehealth and video communications have made value-based care more accessible, convenient, and affordable. Various innovations and improvements have improved patient experience to a great extent. Providers today can consult with global experts and continue their medical education with virtual training, certification programs, and conferences. Most of the workers are on home networks, potentially using personal devices, or interacting — unwittingly or not — through unauthorized communica

Newer innovations will continue to support the new normal

Digital disruptions are the need of the hour, as businesses and lifestyles are being governed by the new rules of the global pandemic, making remote engagement and digitisation the new normal. And this new normal demands innovations that are not only out-of-the-box, untried ideas but also carry the potential of solving some of the pressing challenges, and create impactful results. In other words, one of the key requirements for any successful tech innovation is the product/ service that is market fit. However, the real journey of a new product development starts with an innovative idea, forming the foundation for further development. Technology and its innovations will continue to support businesses to augment their offerings through the adoption of digital technologies in the new normal.

#Artificialintelligence will change everything in the world, except how men think and behave . AI could pose a 'more urgent' threat to humanity than climate change, #GeoffreyHinton, AI pioneer in AI said in an interview. Geoffrey Hinton, widely known as one of the 'godfathers of AI', recently announced he had quit Alphabet after a decade at the firm, saying he wanted to speak out on the risks of the technology without it affecting his former employer.

There is growing concern about the possible threat posed by Artificial Intelligence if machines were to achieve greater intelligence than humans and take control of the planet.

AI is often in-built into third-party software, hardware, and services that are deployed to specific business units, potentially exposed to undiscovered risks in legal, reputational, data privacy, and operational areas. As enterprises engage more with AI-powered solutions, new risks will emerge, threatening the trust factor.
