Dodgers sign former Giants rival Brian Wilson

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreeement to sign reliever Brian Wilson.

Wilson, who has not pitched since having Tommy John elbow surgery in April 2012, will be sent on a minor league rehab assignment before joining the Dodgers.

Wilson was the closer on the San Francisco Giants' 2010 World Series championship team and saved 171 games for them over seven seasons.

From 2008-11, Wilson was one of the top closers and led the majors with 163 saves.

But he was admittedly miffed when the club did not offer him a contract after his second Tommy John surgery ended his 2012 season, and now, he will pitch for their archrivals to the south.

Wilson is a three-time All-Star who led the National League with 48 saves in 2010.

Closer Brian Wilson, who played such an integral role in San Francisco’s 2010 World Series win, has chosen to sign with the Dodgers, according to sources.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreement to sign reliever Brian Wilson, according to a person directly involved in the negotiations but unauthorized to make the official announcement.
Wilson has not pitched since undergoing Tommy John surgery, his second, in April of last year. The 31-year-old will be sent to the minor league for rehab assignment before joining the Dodgers.

Wilson will report to the Dodgers’ spring training facility in Arizona, then move along to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, according to sources. Assuming all goes well, he is expected to join the Dodgers around mid-August. He signed a minor-league deal, running only through 2013.
Several clubs were interested in Wilson’s services, and the Dodgers have been in search for help at the closer position.

The Dodgers have been seeking bullpen help, specifically an eighth-inning man who can work as a bridge to closer Kenley Jansen. Wilson, described by one scout who w

Brian Wilson, who spent his first six-plus seasons in San Francisco, is going to the Giants' heated NL West rival.
Wilson, who hasn't pitched in a game in over a year, signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old right-hander made only two regular-season appearances in 2012 before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery on April 19.
The three-time All-Star has racked up 171 saves to go with a 20-20 record and a 3.21 ERA in 315 contests. He became a free agent when the Giants didn't tender him a contract offer following the 2012 season.
'Thank you to the fans in San Francisco. It was an honor to pitch in front of you for all those years,' Wilson said via Twitter. 'Even though I'll be wearing a different color your impact in my life will never be forgotten.'
Wilson, known for his extravagant beard, led the National League with 48 saves and posted a 1.81 ERA in 2010. He had saves in all three playoff series, including the World Series when the Giants beat the Texas Rangers in five games.

Gabby Douglas told Oprah Winfrey that she had a different experience than her fellow gymnasts when she used to train in Virginia—and not in a good way.
But the head of her former gymnasium in Virginia Beach and the people she trained with maintain that they have no idea what Douglas is talking about.
'Gabby's remarks were hurtful and without merit,' Excalibur Gymnastics CEO Gustavo Maure said in a statement to E! News in response to the 16-year-old's claim that she felt 'bullied and isolated from the group,' possibly because she Is black.

'We've had more African Americans in elite and on the national team than any other gym in the country (5, 2 of them in Olympic Trials or Olympic Team Camp),' Maure continued. 'Her African American former teammates will answer this serious accusation. (1st statement untruth, she was not the only African American gymnast training in the gym) We are good people.
