Jerry Sandusky Trial: Jury asks to rehear testimony, adopted son also accuses Sandusky of $exual abuse

The jurors deliberating child sex abuse charges against Jerry Sandusky have asked to rehear testimony from Mike McQueary, a onetime graduate assistant who reported seeing Sandusky assault a boy in a Penn State shower, as well as the testimony of Dr. Jonathan Dranov, who told the jury that McQueary gave him a different account of what he saw.
The jury, which includes nine people with close ties to PSU, made the request of Judge John Cleland on Thursday evening, more than seven hours after they began their deliberations.

Cleland told the jurors that McQueary's testimony was about two hours in length and Dranov's was about 20 minutes long and suggested they revisit the McQueary testimony Friday.

Meanwhile, just hours after the jury began its deliberations, lawyers for Matt Sandusky, one of Sandusky's six adopted children, issued a statement alleging that Sandusky abused him.

'During the trial, Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky's abuse,' Andrew Shubin and Justine Andronici said in the statement. 'At Matt's request, we immediately arranged a meeting between him and the prosecutors and investigators.

Jerry Sandusky case 'Worst moment in Penn State history'

Last November's arrest of Jerry Sandusky triggered a chain of events that led to massive upheaval at Penn State, including the ouster of legendary football coach Joe Paterno and the university president. The case tarnished one of the nation's premier collegiate athletics departments. 'Happy Valley' was rocked by allegations of Sandusky's sexual abuse of boys — and the courtroom accounts in recent weeks of their personal suffering.
Friday night, one phase of the case was closed. Sandusky, once a prominent assistant coach under Paterno, was convicted at trial on 45 of 48 counts of sexual abuse. Many elements remain in what is considered one of the biggest stories in college athletics history.
Paterno was fired after 409 victories and two national titles. He died of cancer in January. President Graham Spanier, a leader at one time within college athletics, lost his job. Tim Curley, widely considered one of the nation's top athletic directors, lost his job. Curley still faces a trial on obstruction and failure to report charges.

Jerry Sandusky found guilty of child $ex abuse, should spend rest of his life in prison

Jerry Sandusky was found guilty Friday night on 45 of 48 counts of child sexual molestation and faces up to 442 years in prison.
A jury of Sandusky's Centre County, Pa., neighbors determined that the former Penn State defensive coordinator sexually abused children over a 15-year period, using his stature as a local coaching hero and his position with the Second Mile charity to target and then violate at-risk kids from the area.
The jury deliberated for about 20 hours after a trial that stretched across eight days at Centre County Courthouse. The jury foreman read the counts and said 'guilty' on six consecutive counts before saying 'not guilty' for the first time. He read all 48 counts.

Sandusky, wearing a brown blazer, stood motionless with his left hand in his pocket, his eyes on the jury. His wife, Dottie, and three of his adopted sons and one adopted daughter sat to his right. Matt Sandusky, their adopted son who Thursday said Jerry Sandusky had molested him, was not present.
Sandusky, who was escorted out of the courthouse in handcuffs, will be sentenced at a later date by Judge John Cleland. The precise number of years he faces in prison is unclear, but legal experts say it should be enough to lock the 68-year-old away for life.
After the counts were read, Judge John Cleland said, 'Mr. Sand

Juror No. 4, the foreman, gray-haired and middle-aged, stood high in the back row of the jurors' box, looked down at some sheets of paper, then at Jerry Sandusky and began to deliver a verdict a long, sad time coming.
    Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Of indecent assault. Of endangering the welfare of children.
    Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Of terrorizing the poorest and most vulnerable of this area's youth. Of abusing his fame as a former Penn State defensive coordinator. Of conducting a charade of charitable work to supposedly help children.
    Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Forty-five times it rang out. Juror No. 4 hammered each one home with the independent force each one deserved.
There were just three charges Sandusky escaped on. After each of those not-guilty counts, it seemed that the foreman raised his voice as he returned to this parade of guilty verdicts.
He seemed to make sure each count was granted its own moment to linger, to emphasize the torture and pain and shattered innocence it produced. Oral sex. Anal sex. Fondling. One despicable act worse than the next.
This here was a night of redemption, a predator laid bare with nowhere to hide, with no more lies to tell, with no one left to save him.
'Mr. Sandusky,' Judge John Cleland said when this dramatic, nearly eight-minute condemnation was finally, fully read, 'you have been found guilty by a jury of

Jerry Sandusky Guilty On 45 Counts

Jerry Sandusky showed little emotion as the jury in child sex abuse trial read the verdict finding him “guilty” on 45 counts and “not guilty” on three. The judge immediately revoked his bail and he was handcuffed and sent to the Center County Correctional Facility.

“The Sandusky family is very disappointed obviously by the verdict of the jury but we respect their verdict, said defense attorney Joe Amendola. “We have some appeal issues, we’ll pursue.”
The 68-year-old former Penn State assistant football coach fought 48 counts that accused him of abusing 10 boys over 15 years.

Word of a verdict broke at about 9:30 p.m. and a court official alerted the media it would be returned at about 9:50 p.m. The courtroom was closed by the time the jury and attorneys assembled for the verdict, and no one was be allowed to leave until court until it was adjourned, the judge said in a court order earlier in the week. The verdict was read count by count. Media was barred from transmitting any results of the verdict until adjournment, with the judge promising sanctions for any reporter or media organization violating his order and jurors did not grant any post-trial interviews.
After learning about the verdict, Penn State released a statement that read in part: “The legal process has spoken and we have tremendous respect for the men who came forward to tell their stories publicly. No verdict can undo the pain and suffering caused by Mr. Sandusky, but

Jerry Sandusky's victims and how the jury ruled on each of the 48 counts

Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted Friday of 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys. Here’s a breakdown, by victim, of what he was found guilty of doing and the three counts of which he was acquitted:

Victim 1: Sandusky was accused of fondling him and performing oral sex on him multiple times, in his home and State College hotels. The boy was 11-15 years old at the time. Sandusky was barred from his central Pennsylvania high school in 2009 after the boy’s mother alerted school officials, triggering the investigation that produced charges. Sandusky was found guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse (two counts), indecent assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, endangering a child’s welfare.

—Victim 2: A boy of about 10 that a graduate assistant, Mike McQueary, has said he saw being attacked by Sandusky in the team showers in February 2001. Investigators have not been able to determine the boy’s identity. McQueary reported what he saw to head coach Joe Paterno, and Paterno’s handling of it contributed to the university’s decision to fire him shortly after Sandusky was arrested in November. Sandusky was found guilty of indecent assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, endangering a child’s welfare. He was acquitted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

—Victim 3: Sandusky was accused of hugging him in the shower and fondling him between July 1999 and Decemb
