Two militants, who were killed by security forces in an encounter in Baramulla district's Sopore area today, belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen and were behind an attack on a police party.
'Yesterday, a grenade attack was carried out on a police deployment party in Sopore town in which four policemen were injured,' Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, S P Vaid told reporters here.
'The description of assailants and CCTV footage helped in identifying and arresting two persons, including one who had hurled the grenade at the police party,' the DGP said..

Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Rafiabad area of Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, an Army official said.
The militants were holed up inside a house in Pazalpora village in Sopore township of the district.
The Army official said two weapons were seized and operations were still on in the area.
Following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation on Tuesday night.
A police official said the search operation was halted for the night but the forces maintained the cordon to stop the militants from escaping.
The operation was resumed on Wednesday morning and the gunfight started after the trapped militants opened fire on the forces, he said.

The bodies of all the three militants were recovered and they have been identified. Three AK-47 rifles were recovered from the slain militants.
