Representatives of several Kashmiri Pandit organisations today met Dineshwar Sharma, the Centre's special representative for Kashmir, and sought the setting up of an institutional mechanism for the welfare of the displaced community.

Sharma, who was appointed the Centre's point person on Jammu and Kashmir last month, began the second leg of his visit to the state and reached Jammu last evening to hold consultations with various groups and political parties.

He called on Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti last night and discussed ways to reach out to the stakeholders in the state, officials said..

    इस दौरान पीएम मोदी ने कश्मीर की स्थिति पर गहरी चिंता और गंभीर पीड़ा व्यक्त की। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि तनाव के समय जिन लोगों ने जान गंवाई है वो हमारे देश का हिस्सा हैं। इस समस्या से निपटने के लिए सविंधान के दायरे में रहकर स्थायी समाधान निकालना होगा..वहीं इस दौरान प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने पीएम को घाटी के हालातों की जानकारी दी. इसके साथ ही उन्होंने उनसे अपील की कि वे घाटी में फैली अशांति से निपटने के लिए राजनीतिक रुख अपनाएं...प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने पीएम मोदी को ज्ञापन सौंपकर राज्य में पैलेट बंदूकों पर ‘तत्काल’ प्रतिबंध लगाने की भी मांग की है....आपको बता दें कि घाटी में पिछले 45 दिन से कर्फ्यू लगा है. वहां के मौजूदा हालात के मद्देनजर राज्य के सभी विपक्षी दल, दलगत सीमाओं से परे जाकर एकजुट हुए हैं और उन्होंने केंद्र से अनुरोध किया है कि वह राज्य में सभी पक्षों के साथ राजनीतिक वार्ता की शुरुआत करें. प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने इससे पहले पिछले हफ्ते राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी और कांग्रेस उपाध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी से भी मुलाकात की थी...प्रतिनिधिमंडल में उमर अब्दुल्ला के अलावा कांग्रेस के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष जी.ए. मीर और माकपा के विधायक एम वाई तरीगामी भी शामिल थे
