നാസയുടെ ചൊവ്വാ ദൗത്യമായ എംആര്‍ഒയിലെ ക്യാമറയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ളതാണ് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍. കഴിഞ്ഞ പത്തുവര്‍ഷത്തോളമായി ചൊവ്വയുടെ ഉപരിതലത്തിലെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ റെക്കോര്‍ഡ് ചെയ്യുകയാണ് ഹൈ റൈസ് എന്ന ക്യാമറ. ചുവന്ന ഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഉപരിതല ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വളരെ വിശദമായാണ് ഇവ ഒപ്പിയെടുക്കുന്നത്.
അടുത്തിടെ തകര്‍ന്ന് വീണ് യൂറോപ്യന്‍ ചൊവ്വ ദൗത്യമായ ഷിയാ പരേലി തകര്‍ന്നു വീണതിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഇവയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടും. ചൊവ്വയുടെ ഉപരിതലത്തിന്റെ ഘടനയും പ്രത്യേകതകളും വിശദമാക്കുന്ന 2054 ചിത്രങ്ങളാണ് നാസ പുറത്ത് വിട്ടത്.
ആഗസ്റ്റ്, സെപ്തംബര്‍, ഒക്ടോബര്‍ മാസങ്ങളില്‍ എടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളവയാണ് ഈ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍.
ചൊവ്വയുടെ ആന്തരിക ഘടനയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പഠനം ലക്ഷ്യം വെച്ച് വിക്ഷേപിച്ച നാസയുടെ പര്യവേഷണ ഉപഗ്രഹമായ ഇൻസൈറ്റ് ചൊവ്വയിൽ സുരക്ഷിതമായി ഇറങ്ങിയത് ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍പാണ്. ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ നിന്നും 16 മീറ്റർ ഉള്ളിലുള്ള വിവരങ്ങൾ വരെ ശേഖരിക്കാനും ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് അയക്കാനുള്ള സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ ഇൻസൈറ്റിലുണ്ട്. 360 കിലോഗ്രാം ഭാരമുള്ള ഇന്‍സൈറ്റ് പേടകം ഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ മധ്യരേഖാപ്രദേശത്തെ എലൈസിയം പ്ലാനിറ്റിയ എന്ന സമതലത്തിലാണ് ഇറങ്ങിത്. ആറ് മാസം മുന്‍പാണ് ഇന്‍സൈറ്റ് ചൊവ്വ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി പുറപ്പെട്ടത്.
ചരിത്രം വഴിമാറാന്‍ പോവുന്ന വിവരങ്ങളായിരിക്കും അവിടെ നിന്നും ലഭിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങുന്നതെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ.
ഭൂമി ഇല്ലാതായാല്‍ മനുഷ്യ വംശത്തിന് താമസം മാറ്റാന്‍ മറ്റൊരിടം ഉണ്ടോഎന്നതടക്കം പ്രതീക്ഷകളാണ് ഇൻസൈറ്റിലുള്ളത്. ചൊവ്വയിലെ അറിയപ്പെടാത്ത രഹസ്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ അറിയുകയും അത് മനുഷ്യരാശിയുടെ നേട്ടത്തിന് വേണ്ടി പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തുകയുമാണ് ഇന്‍സൈറ്റിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം. ഒരു ബില്യണ്‍ ഡോളര്‍ മുടക്കിയാണ് നാസ ഇന്‍സൈറ്റ് പദ്ധതി നടപ്പിലാക്കിയത്.
ഇൻസൈറ്റ് ചൊവ്വയിലെത്തി ആദ്യ മിനിട്ടിൽ തന്നെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ അയച്ചിരുന്നു.
ഉപരിതലത്തിൽ നിന്നും 16 മീറ്റർ ഉള്ളിലുള്ള വിവരങ്ങൾ വരെ ശേഖരിക്കാനും ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് അയക്കാനുള്ള സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ ഇൻസൈറ്റിലുണ്ട്.ചൊവ്വയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പഠനത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രലോകത്തിന് ഏറെ പ്രതീക്ഷ നൽകുന്ന ഒന്നുമാണ് ഇൻസൈറ്റ്.54.8 കോടി കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ബഹിരാകാശത്തിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചശേഷമാണ് പേടകം

In a show of technological wizardry, the robotic explorer Curiosity blazed through the pink skies of Mars, steering itself to a gentle landing inside a giant crater for the most ambitious dig yet into the red planet's past.
A chorus of cheers and applause echoed through the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on Sunday night after the most high-tech interplanetary rover ever built sent a signal to Earth. It had survived a harrowing plunge through the thin Mars atmosphere.
“Touchdown confirmed,” said engineer Allen Chen. “We're safe on Mars.”
Minutes after touchdown, Curiosity beamed back the first black-and-white pictures from inside the crater showing its wheel and its shadow, cast by the afternoon sun.
It was NASA's seventh landing on Earth's neighbour; many other attempts by the U.S. and other countries to zip past, circle or set down on Mars have gone awry.
The arrival was an engineering tour de force, debuting never-before-tried acrobatics packed into “seven minutes of terror” as Curiosity sliced through the Martian atmosphere at 13,000 mph.
In a Hollywood-style finish, cables delicately lowered the rover to the ground at a snail-paced 2 mph. A video camera was set to capture the most dramatic moments — which would give earthlings their first glimpse of a touchdown on another world.

Mangalyaan, which was blasted off into space on November 5 last year, entered the Mars orbit on September 24. It has been one of the biggest scientific achievements for India, putting ISRO, India's space agency, in the select group of four space agencies that have successfully sent a probe to Mars orbit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Mars mission as a major achievement. 'History has been created today. We have achieved the near impossible. I congratulate all ISRO scientists and all my fellow Indians on this historic achievement,' he said on the day Mangalyaan entered the Mars orbit. 'The odds were stacked against us. Of the 51 missions attempted across the world so far, a mere 21 had succeeded. But we have prevailed.'
