While speaking at Middle School ground, Paldogri at Lanji in the state, Rahul Gandhi continued, 'Congress wants welfare and upliftment of the people, along with development. That is why we implemented schemes like MNREGA and Food Security Bill. The MNREGA guarantees jobs to every rural poor, without any discrimination. The Food Security bill is to make sure that no one lives hungry in our country. Every poor will be given food grains at Rs. 1 per kg' and added, 'We need roads, airports and railway lines; infrastructure development must take place; we believe in it and the BJP does too. Shri Gandhi explained the Madhya Pradesh had different norms for different people. He said when a rich man's land was acquired by the government; he was paid compensation as per the prevalent market rate. But when a poor man's land was acquired, no one ever bothered to seek his consent.
The Congress Vice President said the Congress-led UPA government has brought a new legislation for land acquisition which would ensure even the poorest man would be paid four times the market rate as compensation when his and was acquired by the government. Even the people who worked as labourers on the acquired land would be paid by the government in order to compensate for his loss of employment.
Shri Gandhi asked the people who had come to hear him to vote for the Congress in large numbers and usher in a government of the youth, of women, of tribals, of the poor, and of the Dalits.
Shri Gandhi explained how the Congress and the BJP saw the same issues differently. But there is big difference in their thinking.
