Dharmendra Urges CM Naveen To Intervene In Police-Lawyer Spat
Amid the ongoing lawyers’ strike over alleged thrashing of an advocate by the Odisha police, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today sought Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s intervention to end the stalemate in the interest of the people of the State.
In a Facebook post (video), Pradhan expressed concerns over the problems people are facing due to the deadlock in the court proceedings.
He said, “Due to the spat, employment, land disputes, bails and other issues concerning the common man have been severely affected. A judiciary-executive face-off situation has emerged. So, what will be the solution to this problem? Shouldn’t the head of the State be concerned about it?”.

Odisha Modifies Guidelines Of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana; All Govt Hospitals Covered
After facing criticism, Odisha government on Saturday made massive changes in guidelines of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) with the annual income limit for treatment of cancer, heart and kidney diseases increased from Rs 1 lakh per annum to Rs 3 lakh per annum. Besides, all premier hospitals including Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, CMC Vellore, Narayana Hrudalaya have also been covered under the scheme.
The government which has been claiming its health care scheme better than Centre’s Ayushman Bharat yojana changed the guidelines to benefit more families in the State.
Terming State’s own health care scheme a success, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed that over 1.1 crore patients have already been benefitted within two months of the launch of the scheme.
“Odias who are living outside Odisha can now also avail the scheme anywhere in the country and the people from the State who wish to seek the benefits the scheme outside the State can do so,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pratap Jena informed that nearly 4,036 medical packages were included under the BSKY whereas the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) covers only 1,343 packages.

In what could be the stepping stone of a new political equation in Odisha ahead of the general elections, expelled BJD leader and former minister Damodar Rout was seen at the Congress camp
Rout along with leaders of several political outfits was seen attending the ‘Sambidhan Banchao’ conference at Congress Bhawan here in Bhubaneswar.
Apart from Rout, CPM leader Janardan Pati and Samajwadi Party’s Rabi Behera were also seen at the event.
The presence of Rout has certainly sparked speculation over formation of a new alliance against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
After finalising its first set of candidates, the Congress made it amply clear that it is now shifting its focus to forge a non-BJD & non-BJP alliance by reaching out to other smaller regional parties through its ‘Sambidhan Banchao’ conference.
However, Dama Rout denied claims of joining Congress. He further made it clear that he will not join any political party.

Big infra boost for Odisha! Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a slew of projects in Odisha on Saturday. The projects, which will uplift the infrastructure of the state, are worth more than Rs 4500 crore. Interestingly, this is PM Modi’s second visit to the eastern state in less than a fortnight, as he flagged off many projects in Odisha last month.
PM Modi has also launched several new railway projects, which included flagging off of the second passenger train service from Tatanagar to Badampahar. The railway line between Tatanagar and Badampahar was laid in the year 1911 and only one train ran on this route, according to a PTI report.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a MSME support programme in Delhi on Friday, three Union Ministers kicked off the campaign in as many Odisha districts and asked entrepreneurs to take benefit of facilities including access to credit and market.
While Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended a district level programme in Cuttack, Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh was in Puri and Road Transport and Highway and Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya did so at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
The Union Ministers’ programme coincided with a campaign launched by Prime Minister in 100 districts of the country for strengthening the eco system for MSMEs.
Addressing the programme in Cuttack, Pradhan said Cuttack city is synonymous with MSME industry and historic Bali Yatra will begin soon to remember the rich maritime history of Odisha.

BJD opportunistic party with no ideology, morality or issue': Dharmendra Pradhan lashes out at Odisha govt
Ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, union minister Dharmendra Pradhan told Mirror Now that his party is likely to form next government in Odisha where BJD and CM Naveen Patnaik have been ruling for 19 years.
Barely days after Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik told a media personnel that his party does not intend to ally with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Union Minister for petroleum, natural gas, entrepreneurship and skill development Dharmendra Pradhan spoke exclusively to Mirror Now correspondent Meenakshi Bhanja. Pradhan addressed several burning issues ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections.
Amidst a 40-day tour of his home state Odisha, Pradhan said that Odisha was termed a priority state for the BJP when Amit Shah took charge as party president in 2014. He further claimed that an anti-incumbency sentiment is looming over the state which has seen the same party rule for the last 19 years. Pradhan became a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India while representing the Deogarh constituency of Odisha in March 2018.
