An Air Arabia airliner flying from Kuwait to the United Arab Emirates was diverted to a UAE military airbase on Sunday after a passenger warned the plane was about to explode, the UAE state news agency WAM reported.
The aircraft was boarded after landing at the al Minhad airbase by the authorities who resolved the situation using 'appropriate standard procedures', the agency reported, without elaborating.
The UAE-based budget carrier said in a statement that Air Arabia flight G9128 from Kuwait to the UAE emirate of Sharjah was diverted following instructions from air traffic control due to an unruly passenger onboard.
The 'flight landed safely and the authorities are currently holding the necessary investigation', the statement said.
Air Arabia is based in Sharjah, one of seven emirates that make up the UAE. The Al Minhad airbase near Dubai is a hub for US-allied forces in the Middle East..

Sri Lanka head coach Mickey Arthur revealed that the return flight to Sri Lanka suffered fuel loss and the team had to land in India. “We had to divert to India because we lost fuel,” Mickey Arthur, Sri Lanka’s head coach. When I landed in India, I switched my phone on and I had a couple of messages from Wayne Bentley [England’s operations manager] who updated on the situation and that was a really nerve-wracking time for all of us,” Arthur told talkSPORT.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s next assignment is a limited-overs series against India at home. The tour comprises three ODIs and as many T20Is, starting from July 13. With the Men in Blue doing exceptionally well in white, the Lankan Lions would want their best player to be available for the series. Although Sri Lanka couldn’t do much on the England tour, Arthur highlighted some positive takeaways.

दुबई से कोच्चि आ रही इंडिगो की फ्लाइट में उस समय हड़कंप मच गया जब एक यात्री अपनी सीट से खड़ा होकर आतंकी संगठन आईएस के समर्थन में नारे लगाने लगा। विमान को तुरंत मुंबई डायवर्ट कर आपात लैंडिंग कराई गई। आरोपी को हिरासत में ले लिया गया है। अभी उसकी पहचान उजागर नहीं की गई है...बताया जा रहा है कि करीब 120 यात्रियों लेकर विमान ने सुबह 5.30 बजे दुबई से उड़ान भरी थी। विमान ने जैसे ही भारतीय सीमा में प्रवेश किया, वह शख्स अपनी जगह से खड़ा हो गया और आईएस के नारे लगाने लगा..इस हरकत से यात्री सहम गए और उन्होंने क्रू को सूचना दी। चालक दल के सदस्यों ने भी उस शख्स को समझाने की कोशिश की, लेकिन वह नहीं माना..इसके बाद सुबह करीब 9 बजकर 15 मिनट पर विमान को मुंबई में उतारा गया। यहां आरोपी को हिरासत में ले लिया गया। उससे पूछताछ जा रही है। फिलहाल यह पता नहीं चला है कि वह किस देश का नागरिक है।

High vibrations on yet another unmodified Pratt & Whitney (PW) engine forced an IndiGo Airbus A320 Neo flying from Pune to Jaipur to divert safely to Mumbai on Thursday morning. The Neo (VT-ITW) operating as 6E-6129 experienced high vibrations while passing through flight level 30,600 feet, say sources. Pilots brought this engine to idle and made a safe emergency landing at the nearest airport, that happened to be Mumbai, as twin-engine planes can land safely on one engine.
