Background

To create an enduring society, businesses will need to devise a system where each and every act is inherently sustainable and restorative. To encourage industry tread this path, CII initiated a voluntary program 'Mission on Sustainable Growth' seeking commitments from companies to reduce their intensity and optimally use the natural resources. Taking forward this initiative, CII has embarked on a journey to create a comprehensive rating system to analyse the performance of companies on the greenness of their operations. This rating will be the 'first of its kind in the world' which will enable companies to take stock of their environmental performance and devise their way forward.

Objective

The objective of the rating system is to create a framework to define and assess 'how Green' the company is and highlight the way forward to become more Greener. The Green Rating System will act as a milestone for companies pursuing green initiatives to measure where they stand and help them in defining the path forward.
