So this is how it goes - 1. If you have Nvidia GPU: Go to Nvidia Control Panel & go to; Manage 3D settings - Global Settings (or Fortnite Program Settings) - OpenGL rendering GPU set to your GPU. Power management mode: set to Prefer maximum performance. Threaded Optimization: On. - Apply. Make sure V-sync is turned off.
2. Go to Fortnite Directory C: - Program Files - Epic Games - Fortnite - FortniteGame - Binaries - Win64 - FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe - right click - properties - Compatibility Tab - Disable fullscreen optimizations. - Run As Administrator. - Apply.
3. Xbox DVR is an app on Windows 10 and seems to really affect performance because (if on) it is recording your gameplay in the background along with audio, mouse movement, etc. Turning this off has helped a lot of people get better performance. Let's disable this. Go to Settings - Gaming- Game DVR tab- turn OFF Background recording and literally everything else on the Gaming tabs.
4. Make sure your drivers are up to date. I would stay away from driver-update software and do it yourself; it's pretty easy:
