Kementerian Pertanian optimistis Indonesia mampu mencapai swasembada pangan. Arah untuk mewujudkan mimpi itu makin terlihat setelah inflasi pangan turun signifikan menyusul besarnya jumlah dan jenis komoditas pangan yang diekspor.
Menteri Pertanian Amran Sulaiman mengatakan produktivitas pangan nasional meningkat signifikan dalam empat tahun terakhir. Hal itu terefleksi dari ekspor sejumlah komoditi pangan. Di antaranya ekspor domba dan kambing asal Jawa Timur ke Malaysia serta telur ayam ke Malaysia dan Jepang.
'Inflasi pangan 10,57 persen pada tahun 2014. Hari ini turun menjadi 1,26 persen. Tapi yang menarik adalah kesejahteraan petani meningkat,' ungkap Amran Sulaiman.
Lebih jauh Amran mengatakan peningkatan ketahanan pangan terwujud atas kerja sama seluruh pihak termasuk TNI dan Polri. Digandengnya TNI dan Polri membuat mafia pangan tak bisa bergerak. Hasilnya, angka inflasi pangan turun signifikan.
Setelah berhasil mencapai swasembada pangan, Indonesia mempunyai mimpi besar untuk jadi lumbung pangan dunia pada 2045. Indonesia akan jadi lumbung berbagai komoditas seperti padi, bawang, cabai, gula, kedelai, rempah, dan daging sapi.

Amran mengatakan di Bandung, Jawa Barat, Selasa (27/11/2018), dalam 4 tahun terakhir ini Kementrian Pertanian sudah memblacklist 15 perusahaan importir yang diduga nakal. Akan bertambah 21 importir.
Sejauh ini Kementan sudah memperkarakan 782 kasus mafia pangan. Dari jumlah ini, 409 orang menjadi tersangka.
Terkait hal ini Amran mengaku tak akan memberikan ruang untuk mafia pangan di Indonesia. Pemerintah bekerja sama dengan Polri dan TNI mengawasi distribusi dan kualitas pangan di Tanah Air.
