Former Minister, Senior BJD Leader Damodar Rout Expelled From Party
Just days after alleging multiple instances of corruption in various departments of the State government, former minister & senior leader Damodar Rout was dismissed from the BJD today.
In pursuance to orders from party president Naveen Patnaik, Damodar Rout has been expelled from the BJD, informed party’s state secretary, Bijay Kumar Nayak through a press release.
Rout had recently created ripples in the political circle by alleging irregularities and scams in disbursal of Cooperative bank loans, Omfed, distribution of saplings & in the Health department.
Earlier today, Rout had praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by calling him a good human being, a writer and an artist with a clean image and has greater exposure as compared to his counterparts in the country.
On Monday, BJD’s Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prashant Kumar Muduli and party’s Jagatsinghpur district president Bishnu Charan Das had met CM Naveen and urged for disciplinary action & suspension of Rout..

Going by the recent developments in the ruling Biju Janata Dal, it appears that the party’s legislator from Paradip, Damodar Rout, may face the same fate as former Lok Sabha member Baijayant Panda.
In the backdrop of Mr. Rout’s diatribe against the State government over the past few weeks, hundreds of party workers from his home district Jagatsinghpur met Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik at his residence on Tuesday morning, demanding that the senior leader be expelled for “anti-party activities”.
In his interactions with the media over the past few weeks, Mr. Rout has been making serious allegations of irregularities in various departments and schemes of the State government, evoking strong criticism from party workers against him.

Damodar Rout Likely To Name New Party ‘Biju Samatakranti Dal’
Former minister and BJD leader, Damodar Rout announced that the name of his new political party is likely to be ‘Biju Samatakranti Dal.’
While speaking to mediapersons in Paradip today, Rout said “We are going to form a regional party. Even though the name has not been finalised, I have suggested ‘Biju Samatakranti Dal’. Other members of the party may also come up with other names.”
The expelled BJD leader had announced about his new party last month stating that it will be named after former Chief Minister late Biju Patnaik.
Ever since Rout’s expulsion for his alleged anti-party activities, he has been on the centre stage of Odisha politics. The senior leader was expelled in September just days after alleging multiple instances of corruption in various departments of the State government.

The BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday attended a sit-in of his party here, demanding increase in the minimum support price for paddy and slamming the Modi government for not keeping its promises.
Patnaik said that despite repeated requests to the Centre to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy to 2,930 per quintal, they were ignored. “The BJP came to power with assurance of increasing the Minimum Support Price of food grain as per the Swaminathan formula. I have gone to the Centre many times with this demand, but it has been ignored. It was promised by the BJP in 2014, but they have forgotten their promise after coming to power,” he said.

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha unit of BJP received a jolt on today when two national executive members Dilip Ray and Bijoy Mohapatra resigned from the party.
In a joint resignation letter signed by Mr Mohapatra and Mr Ray sent to BJP national president Amit Shah, they said that several leaders in the party have remained silent over various issues concerning the state fearing denial of tickets.

'The well meaning suggestions by us to you were construed as a threat by certain egocentric self servicing individuals who resorted to dirty tricks and a campaign was launched in our respective constituencies to try and deride us,' they said in the letter.
