Entire Bihar, especially this region, has produced many brave leaders who had an active role in our great freedom struggle. Our leaders also fought very hard to uplift the downtrodden after independence. The efforts by Babu Jagjeevan Ram for the development of this region and welfare of its people are known to all of you. You also are aware of the struggle he put in to find solution to the scarcity of irrigation water here. Realising this serious issue of the farmers here, he had started the construction of Karamchat dham. Though the construction was stopped in between, now Meira Kumar ji intervened resumed work and now the project is nearing completion. Once the dam will be in operation it will be a great relief for our farmers here and I am sure it will transform their lives..

Hitting out at Odisha's ruling party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for neglecting the poor, common man and farmers, Mrs Sonia Gandhi said the central government provided thousands of crores of rupees in assistance to the state government under different programmes but they were not implemented properly.
'Nearly 4,000 farmers were forced to commit suicide because of the anti-farmer policy of the BJD government. Under the central government scheme, farmers were supposed to be given bonus but the state government did not implement it,' Mrs Gandhi said.

I want to ask the BJP government here why have not the government increase the limit of LPG cylinders to a family from 6 to 9. This is what our Congress government has done in the states ruled by us. Why has the Karnataka Government not reduced the VAT on diesel, just like our Congress led governments have done? So it is very easy to criticize others but what about you (the state government), what are you doing to reduce the hardships of your people? It is your (state government’s) responsibility as much as ours†said Sonia Gandhi.

Whenever I remembered them I feel they are much greater than us.
I am in the politics to take forward this tradition. Our mixed culture is more important to me than power. Authority is only a source. One can work for the welfare of the people when motive is right but when motive is wrong then it can destroy everyone.
There are people who work with bad motive in our country. They want to take society to the path of darkness and oppression. I have complete trust in you. I am fully assured that you won't commit any mistake but will give your full support to Congress. There are some people who think that running a government is a child play but you know how they ran away few days from responsibility in Delhi.

They want all people who do not believe in its ideology should leave the country. I want to tell BJP and its associates that blood of all Congress workers are mixed with the soil of India and BJP leaders, who never believe in our rich culture of brotherhood and kindness, must clearly understand that their divisive ideology can never succeed when Congress worker are alive here.
We must fight any such forces which harm the secular, democratic culture of our country. We also must be vigilant against other forces like JD-U also which frequently change colours just to grab power.
