Accusing the opposition of playing divisive politics and keeping the state under-developed, Congress Vice President Mr. Rahul Gandhi asked the people of Uttar Pradesh to unite and vote for the Congress Party to take the state forward.

'The BSP, SP and the BJP have small dreams. They can't take the state forward... Within UP, the youth has been neglected and they have gone astray. They are looking for jobs. They go to Maharashtra, a Congress governed state, for better opportunities. In UP, they have made Hindus and Muslims fight six months before the elections, so that there are no real questions on progress and development...the Congress Party takes everybody along. No matter what your religion is, we will take the state forward,' he said at a massive rally in Hargaon.

Mr. Gandhi also cautioned the people against the BJP, which not only plays in the hands of a few industrialists, but is also making fake promises to the people of Uttar Pradesh. 'Who beats you up in Maharashtra? BJP and its ally, Shiv Sena. And then they say that they want to help you...The ideology of the BJP is to make people fight among each other, and ensure that only a few industrialists get the benefits of progress. They have nothing to offer to the poor, the farmers, the backward castes and the weaker sections of the society,' he said..
