TWO UFC stars have come to blows during a press conference at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, leaving a path of wanton destruction in their wake.
The brutal brawl erupted as light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his most immediate rival, Daniel Cormier, met to promote their upcoming UFC bout, which is scheduled for September 27.The two were staring each other down on stage, as fighters traditionally do, when Jones decided to make things more interesting by tapping Cormier's forehead with his own, Fox Sports reports. Cormier reacted by shoving Jones away, and that prompted the reigning champion to throw a wild punch.
The situation deteriorated rapidly from there, as Jones and Cormier fell to the ground in a hail of punches, destroying the stage in the process. They were eventually separated by the combined, desperate efforts of UFC officials and the MGM Grand's security guards. Neither man was hurt.
There were no more punches after that, but the fight certainly wasn't over. After leaving the scene, Jones logged on to Twitter to sledge his opponent.

The pre-fight festivities between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier went to a new level on Monday morning when a staredown between the pair ended up resulting in a brawl that destroyed the stage and sent security officers scrambling to contain both fighters.
Jones and Cormier, with UFC representative Dave Sholler in the middle, met in the center of a small stage set up for media interviews. They immediately went face to face, and Cormier shoved Jones backwards. Jones surged forward and threw a punch over Sholler, attempting to land on Cormier. He continued lunging after Cormier, and both fighters fell through a backdrop and onto the floor of the MGM Grand lobby.
UFC security forces attempted to pull the men apart, but Jones continued throwing punches at Cormier. The challenger, arms held behind his back by security, flailed with his legs and tried to kick Jones in the head.
Security finally pulled both fighters apart. Jones went back on the stage, raised his face to the ceiling and let out a ferocious howl.
