TWO UFC stars have come to blows during a press conference at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, leaving a path of wanton destruction in their wake.
The brutal brawl erupted as light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his most immediate rival, Daniel Cormier, met to promote their upcoming UFC bout, which is scheduled for September 27.The two were staring each other down on stage, as fighters traditionally do, when Jones decided to make things more interesting by tapping Cormier's forehead with his own, Fox Sports reports. Cormier reacted by shoving Jones away, and that prompted the reigning champion to throw a wild punch.
The situation deteriorated rapidly from there, as Jones and Cormier fell to the ground in a hail of punches, destroying the stage in the process. They were eventually separated by the combined, desperate efforts of UFC officials and the MGM Grand's security guards. Neither man was hurt.
There were no more punches after that, but the fight certainly wasn't over. After leaving the scene, Jones logged on to Twitter to sledge his opponent..
