રૂા.143.64 કરોડના ખર્ચે તૈયાર થઈ ચૂકેલા સુરતના અડાજણ અને અઠવાલાઈન્સને જોડતા નવલા નજરાણા સમાન કેબલ સ્ટેઈડ બ્રિજ પર વાહન ચલાવવા સુરતવાસીઓ તૈયાર થઇ જાઓ. કારણ કે બ્રિજની બંને તરફ વાહન વ્યવહાર ધરાવતા રાજ્યના આ પહેલા ટુ-વે કેબલ સ્ટેઈડ બ્રિજનું લોકાર્પણ મુખ્યમંત્રી વિજય રૂપાણીના હસ્તે તા.2જી ઓક્ટોબરના રોજ થઈ ગયું છે. મુખ્યમંત્રીએ રૂ.30.91 કરોડના ખર્ચે સુરત-ડુમસ જતાં માર્ગ પર નવી કોર્ટ બિલ્ડીંગ જંકશન પર ફલાય ઓવર બ્રિજનું પણ લોકાર્પણ કર્યું છે. સુરતીઓ જેની કાગડોળે રાહ જોઇને બેઠા હતા તે કેબલ બ્રિજની સુરતને ભેટ ધરવા માટે મહાનગરપાલિકા દ્વારા તડામાર તૈયારીઓ કરવામાં આવી હતી.
વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના હસ્તે ખુલ્લા મૂકાયેલા ભરૂચની નર્મદા નદી પરના કેબલ બ્રિજ અને સુરતના કેબલ સ્ટેઇડ બ્રિજ વચ્ચે અનેક તફાવત છે. ખાસ કરીને ભરૂચનો બ્રિજ વન-વે છે, જ્યારે સુરતનો બ્રિજ ટુ-વે છે. ભરૂચના બ્રિજમાં કેબલ પર 40 ટકા લોડ અને સ્ટ્રકચર પર 60 ટકા લોડ હોય છે. જેને ‘એકસ્ટ્રા ડોઝ કેબલ સ્ટેઇડ બ્રિજ’ તરીકે પણ ઓળખવામાં આવે છે સુરતના બ્રિજનો સંપૂર્ણ લોડ કેબલ પર જ નિર્ભર છે. જેથી તાપી નદી પરનો આ કેબલ સ્ટેઇડ બ્રિજ સમગ્ર રાજ્યમાં એક અલગ ઓળખ ઊભી કરશે. આ જ પ્રકારનો બ્રિજ ભાવનગર ખાતે બનાવાયો હતો, પરંતુ થોડા સમયમાં જ તેને બંધ કરી દેવાની સ્થિતિ સર્જાઈ હતી. આમ આગામી દિવસોમાં તાપી પરનો કેબલ સ્ટેઇડ બ્રિજ સુરતીઓ માટે ગૌરવરૂપ સાબિત થશે.Watch Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani to inaugurate the iconic four-lane cable-stayed bridge in Surat With HD Quality

The Bridge was inaugurated just days after India created history by unveiling Built on Yamuna river, sharing the burden of Wazirabad Bridge, the project was approved in 1997 when a bus fell over the narrow Wazirabad Bridge, killing 22 children. However, the project actually started in 2008, aimed to be completed around 2010. However, the deadline kept shifting, finally being completed this year and inaugurated by Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
