Addressing a public rally in Bardoli, Gujarat, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, 'Today, if Gujarat is prosperous it is because of the hard work of the people of Gujarat, and one man cannot claim credit for this. Gujarati's toil and he takes credit for it. And now he wants to make a statue (of Sardar Patel) without understanding the ideology he stood for.'
Rahul Gandhi said, Congress party traces its ideological roots to people like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel. They gave the Congress party it's ideology. 'It's the ideology of love, brotherhood and truth, the ideology of taking everybody along,' Rahul Gandhi said as thousands cheered him.

Addressing a public rally in Bhatapada ground in Cuttack district of Odisha on February 9, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, 'Odisha is perhaps the country's richest state in terms of its reserves of natural resources, but the people of Odisha continue to remain poor.' He said it's because benefits of mining had not reached the people.
'Rs 60,000 crore worth of iron ore and manganese ore have been looted in Odisha...its benefit should have reached the people of Odisha. But sadly, only a select few -- including the mining mafia -- have benefited from it.'
He also said, 'No government has provided as much funds to Odisha as the UPA, but nothing has reached you. Everything was siphoned off by the state government.'
The Congress Vice President said, '10 lakh people in Odisha are unemployed, but the state government is doing nothing.' He pointed out that 22 of the state's 30 districts are affected by Maoist / Naxal activities.

He praised the people of Uttarakhand for standing together in the aftermath of last year's massive natural disaster and said they had to remain united if they wanted to defeat the divisive forces and bring about changes in the country.
'Uttarkhand was one. The men and women here stood for the state after last year's disaster,' he told a massive public rally at the Parade Ground, adding the armed forces should get the credit for relief work as they were in the forefront.

Congress brought the Lokapal Bill in parliament and the Lokayukta Bill -- which brings the chief minister under its purview. In the Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister is covered by the Lokayukta, he told the rally and also reminded them that Chief Minister in Gujarat was not under the purview of the Lokayukta.

Rahul Gandhi in his speech said the opposition was in the habit of opposing the people centric policies of the Congress Party, and subsequently trying to take credit for the successful initiatives. But then why are there tainted ministers, who have been in jail still in power in Gujarat and Karnataka? Why is there no RTI commissioner in the state? And why has the BJP opposed the anti-corruption bills in the Parliament?', said Rahul Gandhi.
He said that the claims made by BJP, about the Gujarat model of development, are questionable. 'They talk about Gujarat shining, but that is not true of the poor in Gujarat. Rs.11 defines the poverty line, children are dying of malnutrition, and land has been taken away from farmers. This is the same party that opposed the Right to Food bill in the Parliament because they thought it meant waste of money', said Rahul Gandhi.
