Pushpavalli Ramaswamy from Mysore, Karnataka is an ex Deputy Mayor. She contested elections for the first time in 2001, and won the very first time. There after, she was made the Deputy Mayor of Mysore city from Congress. She believes Mysore is a heritage city and one should do every thing to preserve our beautiful heritage.

Pushpavalli mainly works on women centric issues like dowry or marital dispute, in fact she also used to council the couples if required. She helped women get their ration card which according to her is the main problem in Mysore. She also helped with their old age and widow pension.

Her day would start at 6 in the morning where she would visit the people who called her with different problems. She would listen and understand their issues and try and solve their problems then and there. This made the people very happy and even now if they have any problems she is the first person they call.
Pushpavalli says we should always be in touch with the common people. She says sometimes even if you can't solve their problems they still feel happy that someone is there trying.
