ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടനയുടെ കണക്കുപ്രകാരം 2016 ല്‍ മദ്യം ഉപയോഗിച്ചതു മൂലം ലോകത്തു മരണപ്പെട്ടത് 30 ലക്ഷം ആളുകള്‍.
20 മരണങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരു മരണം സംഭവിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ കാരണം മദ്യം എന്ന് കണക്ക്. ഇതില്‍ 75 ശതമാനം മരണവും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത് പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിലാണ്. നിലവില്‍ ലോകത്ത് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ പേര്‍ മരിക്കുന്നത് ഏതെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള മുറിവുകള്‍ മൂലമാണെന്നും ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടന പറയുന്നു. മുറിവുകള്‍ മൂലം മരിക്കുന്നത് 28 ശതമാനം പേരാണ്. 21 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ ദഹനസംബന്ധമായ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ മൂലമാണ് മരിക്കുന്നത്. 19 ശതമാനം പേരാകട്ടെ ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായ രോഗങ്ങളോ തകരാറുകളോ മൂലവും.ലോകം മുഴുവനായി 2.3 ബില്ല്യണ്‍ ആളുകള്‍ മദ്യപിക്കുന്നവരായുണ്ട്ആഗോളതലത്തിലെ കണക്കുകള്‍ പരിശോധിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ 237 മില്ല്യണ്‍ പുരുഷന്മാരും 46 മില്ല്യണ്‍ സ്ത്രീകളും മദ്യപാനം മൂലം ഏതെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള അസ്വസ്ഥതകള്‍ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവരാണ്. ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടനയുടെ സര്‍വേ അനുസരിച്ചു സ്‌കൂള്‍ കുട്ടികളില്‍ ബഹുഭൂരിപക്ഷം പേരും 15 വയസിനു മുമ്പ് ഒരിക്കലെങ്കിലും മദ്യപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവരാണ്. 45 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ സ്പിരിറ്റും 34 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ ബിയറും, 12 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ വൈനുമാണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് എന്നു സര്‍വേ പറയുന്നു..

जनपद बिजनौर में नजीबाबाद निवासी एक युवक की चाऊमीन खाने की आदत ही उसकी मौत का सबब बन गई।
जानकारी के अनुसार नजीबाबाद के मौहल्ला पठानपुरा निवासी युवक शाहज़ेब की दून हाॅस्पिटल में उपचार के दौरान मौत हो गई। शाहजेब के परिजनों के अनुसार वह चाऊमीन बहुत खाता था जिसके चलते चाउमीन में डलने वाली पत्ता गोभी का कीड़ा उसके दिमाग में जाने से दिमाग में कीड़े पैदा हो गये थे। जिसके बाद शाहज़ेब को उपचार के लिए दून हाॅस्पिटल ले जाया गया जहां उपचार के दौरान उसकी मौत हो गई। शाहज़ेब की मौत के बाद उसके परिजनों ने लोगों से अपील की है कि वह अपने बच्चों को फास्ट फूड से दूर रखें क्योंकि ये बच्चों की सेहत के लिए हानिकारक है। खास तौर पर लोग अपने बच्चों को चाउमीन से जरूर दूर रखें।
