STORYLINE :
Thirteen civilians were wounded on Monday in a grenade attack by suspected Islamic rebels in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, police said.
Militants lobbed a hand grenade toward a shopkeeper, Sidique Gojri, in the town of Pattan, 35 kilometres (20 miles) north of Srinagar, the summer capital of India's Jammu-Kashmir state, the local police chief said.
Seven of those injured were taken to a hospital in Srinagar in critical condition, the police chief added.
An army convoy had passed through the area earlier but the attack seemed to target the shop owner Sidique Gojri, police said.
Police said they were investigating why Gojri was targeted.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

STORYLINE
Suspected militants hurled a grenade into a crowd outside a mosque in a village in Indian controlled-Kashmir on Friday, killing at least five people and injuring nearly 30 people, some of them critically, police officials and a doctor said.
The dead included two young girls and a boy, police said.
The incident occurred as people were leaving Friday afternoon prayers in the village of Tahat, about 35 kilometres (20 miles) south of Srinagar, police said.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Militants carried out two grenade attacks today in Anantnag and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including at the residence of ruling PDP MLA Mushtaq Shah, leaving four persons injured.
Militants lobbed a grenade towards the residence of Tral MLA Mushtaq Shah in Pulwama. It exploded in the lawn and no one was injured, a police official said, adding the legislator was not in the house at the time of the incident.
The ultras also attacked CRPF personnel at Khanabal in Anantnag district this afternoon. Four persons, including two CRPF personnel, were injured in the explosion.
All injured are stated to be stable, the official said.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers, he said.
Shah is a legislator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which has a coalition government with the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.

Militants today hurled a grenade at a police station in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in injuries to three persons, including two cops.
The attack at Damhal Hanjipora police station took place at around 4 pm and the grenade exploded inside its compound, a police official said.
